Games in progress census

Subduing pirates was the first task of the March Harrier crew…not an easy task as 75% “opted” to be on the side of the pirates. Subduing/co-opting the pirates was the easy part especially as the drugs and implants used to control the pirate band began to wear off.

Which meant the only way out of this system was to return to space station…Down the gravtube shaft, past the alien webbing, through the tumbled girders and piping effectively sealing the party in the bowels of this antediluvian station. Transversing the darkened corridors, and through the din of half lighted corridors only to encounter more darkened corridors (ok, I think you are getting the picture…)

The Human and the not so human remains of previous "explorers" abound in the hellish nightmarish bowels of the space station. Nasties abound, as the ever present danger of electricity. Before coming to face-to-face with the Mother Of All Nasties... The Powerplant awaits and just within grasp. As does something else...O MOTHER...or perhaps...Mummy!!! I want to go home NOW...

Started a second campaign today. Two nobles + crew on a secret diplomatic suicide mission to support the (probably non-existent) Pro-Imperium separatist movement on Sacnoth.

Getting ready to start.
Just a little more to go and we can start the countdown.
(If I know my players, the countdown isn't going to be for launching a ship, but rather how long until they do something utterly insane.)

Well, been running one set in a subsector of my own creation. First couple of sessions were getting the players used to the system, buying their ship, and then a couple quick passenger/trade runs.

Last night, I threw actual plot at them. They seemed to really enjoy it. Next game, two weeks from yesterday.

I've been using Google docs to track trade, subsector and planetary system information, ship information, and mortgage information which has made my note keeping much more organized. I was pleasently surprised by one of my players writing up full fledged Ship's Articles detailing crew responsibilities and other aspects.

So far, so good...

Started one with two bright youngsters last month. We've gamed four sessions. We're running guns to Egypt from Glisten to help them throw off a gang of outlaws from Aster who took over the place.

currenlty running one set in the Spinward Marches using RTT

may grind to a halt though as we have just finished a big lengthy mini campaign and kind of hita wall

I also forgot to mention that we're sticking with just Mongoose Traveller for rule system. I'm new to the system but it's quite appealing with its 'understatedness'. There's also just something about rolling that 2D6 and appreciating the gaussian distribution of the results against the target number, heh.

That's what my gaming group is finding. As we get older, we all seem to move more towards rules-light systems that allow the GM to interpret the detail, rather than crunchy systems that give you the detail but require a bucket of dice and a lightning fast database to do it. This is perhaps largely down to the fact that we only play each game for about 6 sessions before moving on to the next, so rules light games with an intuitive "Add X to Y and roll over 8" systems are so much easier to dive into.

Running one over IRC, using MGT in District 268, around the adventures of a Fast Trader. I'd like to start either a Play by Post or PBEM, but not sure where or if there is much interest.

IRC always a good choice. Note PBeM or Play by Post will be on the slower side compared to IRC.

I've run them both ways, and it basically comes down to player interest. Neither really has the same feel as playing over a tabletop, but there are a few advantages to each format, too.

Twisting around in the endless corridors of this semi-abandoned ancient Vilani space station lead the party downward past unimaginable nasties (you know, you have seen them in the previous album). Until, the characters manage to reach the station’s power plant; where players manage to reverse the flow to fuel their ship. Dismantling the explosives on board their ship was the easy part...defeating the pirate ships closing in fast was a tad more difficult... Firing and running...always a good strategy when in a lowly merchant ship when the pirates outnumber you two to one and a sizable greater amount of firepower. Jumping to the next star system seems easy.

[cue the Imperial March]..."This INS Relentless, you look badly damaged. May we render assistance?" The next adventure awaits. Newbies are welcome to join.
