For those searching for other stories of Robert E. Howard

Cosmic Mongoose
If you already know the Conan and Kull stories and want to know more about some other genres he approached (western, dark fantasy, horror, pulp, boxing, detective, pirate, middle age, etc.), I strongly suggest you visit this web page with his biography: http://howardworks.iwarp.com

Many of his stories are on the course of being reprinted : www.wildsidepress.com

....and from Bison Books next year .

And there's another great source at http://my.lulu.com/category/864 with a bunch of Howard titles along with some other tasty, crunchy bits. ON the downside, we have no proof that any of these companies have permission to print these titles. They could all be bootleg. Get 'em while they're hot, I say. :D

I read an article from the Rehupa intitled "THE COPYRIGHT AND OWNERSHIP STATUS OF THE WORKS AND WORDS OF ROBERT E. HOWARD".
If it is true, there are currently 239 stories from Howard that are "Public Domain List for Robert E. Howard Works" (Updated through 11-06-2002).

I can send you this article to those who want to publish them :D.

Most of the stuff Wildside and Bison will be putting out in the next year or two will be the PD stuff , then there's the Wandering Star/Del Rey as well of course .

There's been some discussion about the validity of the texts doing the rounds on lulu and other places , I believe . I think I'll wait for the _official_books .

No you're right. I didn't even know this until recently. I don't know how it goes, but Howard has not descendant: was an only son and had no child. So it seems logical in the end.
Poor mankind, so many excellent people died in such hardship! Just think of Mozart.

Article on Conan etc in the Public Domain here:

http://www.robert-e-howard.org/AnotherThought4ws02.html

Basically very few of REH's lifetime-published works were ever copyright-registered (or registered correctly) and so are in the public domain.

NB: By Berne Convention rules if REH is in the PD in USA where his works were first published he's in PD everywhere, even though UK authors are still in copyright unless they died before 1929 (1930 as of Jan 1st 2005).

Some REH public domain works including Conan stories are available here:

Just in case anyone doesn't know ,some of the Wildside books are now coming out as trade paperbacks.
