Fleet box value for money

Apologies if this has already been done by someone on here.

Was working out value for money on the new fleet boxes for my own interest, and having done the work anyway, thought other people might be interested.

I'm expressing no opinion about this, just putting the information out there for other peoples use.

This is how much the figures in the relative fleet boxes would cost seperately:

Gaim - £98.00
EA Early - £90.00
Dilgar - £86.00
EA - Crusade - £86.00
EA - 3rd Age - £84.00
Centauri - £83.90
Drakh - £80.64
Brakiri - £80.00
Narn - £79.00
Shadows - £79.00
Drazi - £78.00
Pak'Ma'Ra - £78.00
Vorlons - £74.00
ISA - £66.80
Minbari - £66.00

Vree lists 6 Xills in description but only has three in picture.
With 6 Xills - £88.00
With 3 Xills - £67.00
Both are within the possible ranges for box value, if anyone knows how many there will actually be in the fleet box, maybe you can let us know?

Also, is there any news on when the Abbai fleet box will be putting in an appearance?

So... this is a good thing right...

I am just wondering if I need to grab my flaming brand and pitch fork.

This info was in S&P as well wasn't it? (but with the wrong FAP breakdowns).

This is based on the listings here on the website, which is different to the S&P listings for some of the fleets.

Like I said, I'm not passing comment on these at all, just making the information available and hoping to get answers to the Vree and Abbai questions.

You´ve done that a lot recently, haven´t you?

They changed some boxes because the were at first not full 5 battle points under the new rules, which has been corrected

ye the Gaim do look like good value, shame about some of the others. Best bet is to buy the old boxes while some shops still have them. More ship for your dosh

seems good value until you take into account some of the prices of individual ships after the recent price hikes

Very few ships went up in price (Dollar prices were changed to bring parity to Sterling).

However, we have noticed that no-one has yet comented on the ships that went _down_ in price ;)

Any news on the Abbai fleet box or the contents of the Vree box set?

Also, as the new Psi Corp fleet box set is up on the site, contents value is £73.50, so not as good as most, but better than a few.

Haven't you noticed? We only comment about bad (or seemingly bad, or possibly bad, or might be bad, or could be bad, or, very rarely, "I have no idea, but I just want to say its going to be bad.") things. ;)

If prices went up in dollars to match the exchange rate wouldn't that mean that there was no corresponding rise in the price of ships in Stirling? That doesn't appear to be the case.

During the parity change, some ships were further adjusted to better reflect their weight and complexity. Some went up, others went down.

That's one the law of the universe, if things are good, they are normal, so no need to talk about it. If things are bad, then it's time to launch the whining machines !

And it's even more universal on the internet, i even find this forum refreshing because people don't whine too much

Ho, did i mention that ACTA rocks ? that was for the positive comment of the day

One day I will figure how to do quotes, but Matt Wrote

Drakh Scouts? Same price as a Drakh Crusier, hardly a complex blob and not the weightiest of miniatures either. Doescomplexity count when using moulds that were taken over from B5wars?

And despite the comments,it is still the best space combat game ecer, without a doubt and second to none. Yes it rocks, they are now just damn expensive rocks.

Speaking from my experience with casting, Yes, complexity counts. the more pieces a model is on, the more room it takes up in the mold. that means you get less whole figures out of the mold then something that has fewer pieces. this drives the cost up.

and the Drakh figures were never AoG B5 wars figures. Drakh are all-Mongoose-made models. besides which, whether or not they are is a mostly moot point. it would still be a more expensive model then a single piece model of larger size.

I have scratch built/sculpted and cast(in alumilite) FA-scale drakh for myself(since i only have FA scale fleets). I can tell you, that my Drakh heavy raider, despite being the smallest model i have made(10mm long) is actually far harder to cast, and takes up the same amount of space as my light cruiser. The Light cruiser however is 2.5-3 times the size mass-wise.

So you´re either new here, pathetically ironic or you spend time in some terribly depressing other forums...

Believe me, this is definitely one of the more positive forums around!

Does anyone have answers to the following?

When will the Abbai fleet box be released? (think it's a dam shame they got locked up in the first place)

How many Xill are in the Vree fleet box?

Cheers
