First New Victory at Sea Ships Available

The first of the new line of super-detailed 1/1800 scale Victory at Sea World War II ships are now available for mail order!

These ships include HMS Achilles and Exeter, as they appeared in 1939...

And the Graf Spee.

We also have four Fairmile motor boats, the A, B, C, and D.

At the moment, we are just prepping the rest of the Leander, York and Deutschland class ships now (the Victory at Sea range will feature individual ships, not just classes, down to cruiser level), and rapidly following them are all the ships of the Bismarck, Admiral Hipper, Hood, King George V, and Tribal classes - all of these will be available before Christmas.

Many more vessels have already been designed in 3D and are just being prepped for prototyping. It is our intention to grow this line hugely over the next couple of years, including aircraft, sea port facilities and land forces (for coastal invasion scenarios), and have already started work on ships of the Regia Marina, Marine Nationale, US Navy and Imperial Japanese Navy.

1/1800 scale? Surely that's a bit... large? When VaS first came along people thought the 1/2400 models from GHQ were bit on the big side and most planned to play at 1/3000.

Are these official models going to be mandatory for tournaments and events and stuff? I've been thinking about VaS lately - hence my visit here - and I'd like to support MGP's models if I can.

1/1800 works very well on the table and the models look superb - which is certainly the direction we want to go with the new VaS. Once we get some more photos up and (especially) if you get the chance to see them yourself up close, I think you may be sold on the idea They really do look that good.

1/1800 is a nice size between 1/1200 and 1/3000. It gives the awesome detail and figure you can see it on. If your a 1/6000 type of guy, then detail where you can see the life boat on the turret is not important. But if you are a modeler and want to game with something you detailed to make beautiful then these figs are perfect. There is a huge fan following of the 1/1800 scale figures now a days. As for tournaments Im assuming that at Mongoose Headquarters you will be using there figures as most companies do.

Any chance of actual dimensions of the models?

I believe the Exter is 3" long. I believe the Fairmile motor boats bases are about Quarter size.

Lord David may not know what a Quarter is About the size of a 2p.

The biggest battleships will be around 12cm long (and look fantastic, Sandrine has just finished the Kongo, and it has a superb amount of detail.

That doesn't seem very big. I must have been overestimating the size of the smaller scale naval models I've seen.

What's the price going to be like for the larger capital ships?

Its been a while since I did any "wet" naval gaming, so this is really tugging my interest.
