Firing Arcs with minatures

I've just bought my EA Third Age Fleet and I was curious to know what people did about determining firing arcs when using miniatures?

I'm thinking of painting arcs into the base to ease the process.

At the moment with lots of arguing waving to tape measures and sheets of A4. It was nice and easy when we used to use counters as they have them marked on.

We are planning to line the bases showing the arcs, in theory if you put a sheet of A4 with the tip on one corner over the center point and the ship straight up the sheet of paper you will get the angle.

I have the clear plastic template and the BFG one - boh wor and usually its not an issue.............just the odd check

GF9 template, and common sense! and it's tru, Burger does have a laser tape measure for this game!!

are there many situations calling for one in ACTA?

I would imagine for decideding which arc a ship is in, this arguement tends to raise its head every game or 2 for us. Still trying to get people to decalre arcs when they move, as this then reduces arguements.

Determination of firing arc possibly? as in is that ship forward or side arc? oh I know I have a handy straight line that I can use to determine that.

Yes, for settling arc disputes. Also quadrants in Space Superiority. It is surprising how often your eye can deceive you. But the laser is never wrong.

Reaverman got one first, though, I just copied him ;)

nope, i can see it's uses, lining up your arc then aligning your tape measure hovering over the models is a pain. A laser is simple and effective. . . .. . . albeit a bit geeky ;-)

Geekier than playing with model spaceships from an imaginary sci fi universe? Impressive... most impressive...
