Favourite Fleet composition at 5pt Raid

The Tehtys is nearly one of the most powerfull an imba Patrol level ships.
2 ships per point is hard, but getting the same firepower as a Hyperion for a much less cost is too hard.

It's one of the ships which make swarm fleets looking much more attraktiv then other fleet compositions.

Problem for a lot of folks Triggy is that if I lose all my ships but I win on VP I don't feel like a won anything. And frankly in campaign I haven't, as they don't cost twice the RR to my knowledge.

But that's for another thread I think....

I can understand the campaign concerns.

However, for the VPs, with a mission based on VPs I thought that was the only thing that mattered? It brings about different tactics, etc. and there's another race that does this all the time - Drakh with their Amu and Ma'cu carrying ships worth a lot of VPs.

I'm in no way convinced it works but it's all the models I like or want to field. I know I can find a way to make it work even if it feels fighter light.

"Fighter Light" is a highly relative term with 6 flights of Black Omegas and a pair of Shadowfuries; each is capable of slaughtering its way through about 2:1 odds of 'normal' fighters (Falkosi, Star Snake, Starfury Nova, Thunderbolt, etc. etc.)

Hunters are cool, but I find myself wanting a nicer model, and damn the fact that it's canon...a shadowtech modified marathon might be nice.
Hmm....that gives me an idea...

The other default fleet I like:

Battlewagon

Battlewagon

Battlewagon

Strike Carrier
Double-V wing
Delta-V2 wing

Strike Carrier
Strike Carrier

.....But then I've always been a bit odd....

I respectfully disagree with your statement that VP's is all that matters. Scenarios can be designed that way, but most of ACtA's aren't really.

The Drahk are a whole kettle of fish deserving their own thread. In first ed, the mother ship/carrier was somewhat weak for it's level, and made up for it by having a lot of sinks/guns in the bay. Now the ships are much better, but still get to carry a ton of sinks for free. This rock paper scissors the Drazi right out of winning any such fights. This was a problem before balanced in part by real weaknesses, not so much now due to changes to beam among other things.

Anyway,,,different thread!....lists....raidness....5s of them....

EA - Crusade

1 Marathon Advance Destroyer
4 Chronos Frigates
1 Delphi Scout

The Marathon speaks for it self I would think as being a all around hard hitting line ship with LOTS of speed. The Chronos are good short range brawlers that can put out a lot of dice in all directions. I've seen too many people under estimate what they can do in a turn of shooting. Only downside I have have for them is they are not as fast as the Marathon so you either have to set them up right before the game starts and goto all ahead full to keep up with the Marathon or you have to put a leash on the Marathon and keep it with the Chronos.

My first tourney fleet (borrowed from the nice Mr. "I was Robbed").

Minbari

Tinashi
Leshath
Tigara
Teshlan

Like the combo (as I tend to do well normally with Beamie Goodness)

Vorlon

Destroyer
6 Transports

Have been thinking over a ISA fleet, EA:Crusade and Drakh tourney fleets.

I am afraid so, stealth was not good that game.

I believe everyone was shocked that you actually won a game :D

Dilgar:

1x Tikrit
1x Targrath
2x Ochlavita command
2x Jashakar torpedo
2x Jashakar scout

Total of 28 AD 24`missiles...not to forget the boltars on the Tikrit...Lovely

Really can´t say much about any other race...only played against em... only one loss so far  ...damn Vree destroyed a Targrath with one AD..one

Hey! I won 2 games that day, although to be fair the one against you was the first of those 2

You want to see shock at me winning, you should have been there for the first game of the second Mongoose ACTA tournament ever. I had come 2nd last in the first tournament, my first game in the second tournament was against the champion from the first one, Dralafi. I beat him, only just but I beat him.

Now that was shock, I think I won a couple of other games that day as well.

Just came up with an Absolutey EVIL 5Pt Raid EA Early Years fleet:

1 Avenger
1 Explorer
1 Hyperion Command
2 Saggittarius
8 Tethys Gunboats

15 fighters (I would go with Auroras)
Fleet Carrier
Scout
Command +2
Missile Boats
4 Init Sinks
9 (count them 9!) Beams

And all this on 13 hulls...

Shadows...um let me see I like:

Shadow Ship (Younger) - 4 points
Shadow Scout - 1 point

It's not particularly effective against most other 5pt raid fleets and horribly susceptible to fighters but I like it mainly because it involves less record keeping for me :)

I think someone earlier said hunter, Mothership, fighter carrier and 2 shadowcloak - that is only 4 raid points - the Mothership is Raid level.

Psi Corp

Hunter
Mothership
Mothership
Mymidon x4
-----that's 8 black Omegas and 2 shadowfury.... now if I could only find someone selling Motherships and Shadowfuries....

Minbari

Sharlin
Teshlan

Possibly this, but I'd never buy this many

EA Crusade

Mymidon x20

My Vree have done well with the the following:

3 Xeel war carriers
1 Vaarl scout
3 Xorr war saucers
2 Xixx torpedo saucers
2 Ximm close escorts

the only problem here is no staying power one good 4 die beam hit will evaporate any one of my ships.
