Fallout with MRQ

Hmm, on the surface that sounds like a decent deal - until you realize the entry level platform of the Wii. Not serious gaming LBH - family fun gaming. Then that deal doesn't sound as good. My 2 cents. :D

You would love Killzone 2 LBH. I'm guessing - but I bet you would.

I hope everyone knows this is just some platform smack - we all love our consoles. Just some are better than others. 8)

Well that's your 2 cents, my 2 pence are different

Though since I have now chwecked and a 60GB X-Box 360 is cheaper than a Wii, the point stands for the XBox as well.

And remember, more advanced hardware does not equate necessarily to a better gaming experience, it can help, don't get me wrong, but newer/more advanced is not always better, a fact true in many walks of life.

I agree. The PS2 was far inferior to the first X-box or even the NGC, but remains incontestably the best the console of its time. Technology doesn't mean anything if the games don't follow.

As I said, Microsoft learnt from its past mistakes when Sony though they had won the war before it began.

The PS3 is a lovely toy, but I won't trade my 360 for it. The Blue Ray is no excuse, as you can buy one with the price difference...

To paraphrase Deep Thought:

"We speak of none other than the console that is to come after this one, one so advanced that biological life will form part of it's matrix"

Now where are my Peril-matic shades

Game on men!

Hey, snagged a used copy of Far Cry 2 yesterday - similar to Fallout 3 with a open world system. Just started - too cool man!

Hi,

The main issue with accessing downloadable PS3 content for games like Fallout and Oblivion is to do with exclusivity deals between the platform manufacturer and the software company. However Game of the Year editions will be out soon.

I play loads of game online with my PS3, love its blue ray and connected it to my wireless network in moments.

Still want Fallout 3 the RPG however, don't care what system, I will convert it to RQ :-)

Simon

Far Cry 2 is really beautiful but unfortunately nowhere as rich as Fallout. It is vast but remains a FPS where Fallout is truly a RPG. I guess you'll find it pretty soon quite repetitive. It happened to me anyway...

Are the Fallout DLC available on PS3? Operation Anchorage wasn't so great but I had a lot of fun with The Pitt... Can't wait to join the Brotherhood and raise my character to level 30 in Broken Steel!

Did you check the link I posted? I mean I love the BRP/MRQ, but Fallout has its own system. I think you'll be losing some flavour not using the Stats, Skills and Perks from the original game. It's a bit like the D20 version of WoW that fell completely off target by not using mlechanics based on the original game.

Blu-ray's not all that; most of the supposed "better" quality is subjective.

Wii is excellent and a lot more 'serious' than most of the derivative pap that powers the XBox and PS3, in that games sell mostly on gameplay not just another reworked shoot-em-up or beat-em-up.

XBox and XBox 360 are basically low-grade, fixed spec PCs with piss poor design and quality control, to the point where it's about 50 / 50 whether my sister's 360 has failed this month, yet.

PS3 I think is overspecced for what I'd want out of game console but the quality is very good and it's an exceptionally powerful platform, it does have some decent 'exclusive' games but none I'd buy the console for.

I'm right into Broken Steel now, ready to kick some Enclave ass!

We have a Wii at home and I think it's the greatest rip off of the whole history of video games. This is basically a NGC with a Wiimote. Gameplay
lacks of precision and most games are far below average quality. While the console can be fun for party family games, this is definitively not a gamer's console. Furthermore, with all the accessories you have to buy, the console ends up being more expansive than a PS3, and it's not even next gen! For everyone around the world, the best Wii game is still Wii Sports that comes with the console. That tells much about game quality...

Only that a X-box cost less than a PC video card! And you don't have to upgrade, patch, check for infection, get crazy with windows and all. And most important, you can play on your giant screen from your sofa!

I went for X-box because it's half the price (at least!) of other consoles. It's true the first generations met technical problems, but it's not the case anymore. Anyway, 360 customer's service beats everyone else. Warranty is 3 years, they come to get your console at home and you get it back in less than 15 days. Sony is still really far behind on this matter.

As for PS3, it's a real beautiful object, but that's not worth its price to me.
Game quality isn't better than 360 or PC (and often below, with lots of aliasing problems you don't meet on other supports), online service is free but poor. The Blue-Ray argument is not valid anymore, as you can now adays buy a Blue-Ray and a 360 for the price of a PS3. You'll even have some extra bucks for some games or movies.

I might be coming back to Sony, but it won't probably be with this generation of consoles.

Totally agree with this assessment - I know guys who have returned theirs 3 times!

Dude - your still paying for your console! You need to do one of those 'true cost" of ownership reports to understand just how much you are spending (giving) to Gates & Co. Man, I would lose sleep if I knew I was paying a bill to Gates every month just to use his crappy machine! Talk about sucking the fun out of every game.

Not worth it? Here's some math:

Months owned X-box - X - monthly fee = true cost of ownership - + I owe again next month and the next and I will owe next month even if I go on vacation and don't use it.

I love the "not worth it argument" - you get what you pay for and knocking the value of next generation tech like PS3 is lame Herve!

I'm in Act 2 of Far Cry 2 and having a blast. I liked the game but this one situation when I was being chased by some mercs and a storm was just starting up and it was getting darker and the rain was coming down as the merc's bullets were blowing holes in my windsheild and I went over a small cliff and rolled my vehicle like 6 times and got out and gunned down the bad guys - that is when I said "I love this game!"

You're paying only if you want to play online by suscribing to X-Box Live Gold. You can get your demos, your updates and DLC without it, only by using the free X-Box Live Silver.

All the Fallout DLC should be available soon through a "Game of the Year" edition, like they did for Oblivion.

Along with Fallout, I'm into Resident Evil 5 and Gears of War 2 at the moment. I though I was bored with RE, but the new episode is entrancing, despite the antediluvian rigidity of the gameplay and the lack of originality. GoW 2 really rocks, and you don't even have to use your brain to play it!

Hey Hervé - we like the some kind of games it looks like. I love the Resident Evil franchise - I've asked the 'Goose to come out with an official Resident Evil RPG since 2004.

I finished Far Cry 2 - we can discuss the ending by PM if ya want.

Looks like the PS3 is finally going to get all the Fallout DLC this summer- sweet! It will be fun to return to the Fallout world...

Here's hoping that Mongoose will get the Fallout license. 8)

I finally reached lvl 30 in Fallout 3, got all locations cleared (or at least I think so), spent some 200+ hours of my life scrounging the Wastelands (never went this far in a game in my whole life!), killed zillions of raiders and gained the Messiah kharmic title, bringing peace to some and death to others. Really had a great time...

With the Enclave gone, some loose ends are remaining: Dr Li has gone North to the Commonwealth. Maybe a fourth extension is heading our way... 8)
