Extra Cultures for Secrets of the Steppes

Banded Mongoose
The Elric/Legend book Secrets of the Steppes included Adventurer generation rules that were written to fit in with the Legend Core Rulebook.

If anyone is using some of the variant Cultures that were written inthe RQ II Elric of Melnibone Core Rulebook then the following might be of use ~

Kingdoms
Ilmioria [Shad] : Poor

Professions
Beachcomber: Outlaw, Poor
Jockey: Poor
Pilgrim: Poor
Pirate: Poor,Outlaw
Whaler: Poor

Nice addition, although I didn't even notice that some cultures were missing which should be there.

Then again I take these only as recommendations and not as rules written in stone. For example I would allow any profession for Wanderer of the Time Streams and I would allow other cultures for slave than just poor, because it's possible that, for example, a young warrior from Pikarayd (cultures barbarian and outlaw) has been captured by slavers and ended up working as slave in Pan Tangian sorcerer's household.

Sure, they are only guidelines. Poor and Outlaw got removed to place Adventurer Backgrounds inline with Legend Core Rulebook.

I will post similar details on Forum for Talons of Winter when it sees print.

May I ask is there some reason behind it? Legend has same backgrounds as MRQII and Elric core book added some setting specific backgrounds and professions, I would assume that most of those who use Secrets of the Steppes have Elric core rules, so including Outlaw and Poor shouldn't be a problem.

Legend and Elric however have some minor compatibility issues, because Legend's core rules don't have elemental stats and there's some references to MRQII rules in cult section, like Mythic Resonance and Divine Intervention, which aren't in the Legend core rules. Hopefully these will be updated in some future Elric release. But these are relatively small issues.

I'd use Poor and Outlaw as Backgrounds, regardless of what Legend says.

Many settings have setting-specific backgrounds that are not in the Legend rules. Should a SciFi system have Barbarian, Primitive and Nomad backgrounds? Nope, it would have completely different backgrounds. In the same way, an Elric setting should have its own backgrounds.
