Expensive Russian SMG's

All basic rifles and SMG's seem to have the same stats, so why does it cost 2pts to swap a rifle for SMG with the Russians and yet free for the other armies?

The 2pts cost represents the vodka the unit had to trade for the PPsh-41 SMG.

The Soviet army list can bring the SMGs in greater number within effective range (DESANT! / Human Wave)... :wink:

(I know that this is a dangerous answer, I already smell a huge wave of flame posts that this is unfair, overpriced and badly designed... )

Honestly - IMO within the confines of the Soviet list it is good to charge 2 pts per SMG.

As far as I can tell, it's only free for the British armylists, and then only for elite units. Maybe it's because the Sten was so cheaply made?

18 Soviets with SMGs is only 34 points more than 9 British paratroopers with SMGs and 1 with a Bren. Generally MGs are around 30pts, so it looks like a 2 for 1 sale to me!
