Excel Ship Designer v2025.04.18

Which means that either that section of HG is poorly worded or the authors are ignoring their ship design rules. Again.
yup, not 100% easy to tell which from a mere 2 examples!
but at least those 2 are consistent! from those examples I would say 2.5 tons up to 150 tons cargo, 3 tons up to 300 tons cargo, 3.5 tons up to 450 tons etc. but that is DEFINITELY not what it says (your implementation is what it says) but that seems to be how they did their ships.

We've been finding quite a few illegal official ship designs of late.
Since the implementation is correct, I do not see the need to change it.
BUT, if you need a direct copy, Hit Review on the Cargo Tab. The password is Password.
Change H19, H23 and H27 so that it reads 2 instead of 2.5 in the formula. (Red, Bold and Underlined for your convenience below)

=IF(B19="Installed",(2.5+0.5*ROUNDUP((D18/150),0))*C18,0)

I'd recommend only doing it on your copied files used for these ships, and not the original, since it will then be wrong for any other ships.

Excellent, thanks, I just have this Free Trader that is being refitted by pirates... so I wanted the starting point to match! Awesome job on the sheet btw!

Hotfix for those of you checking Multi-Environments:
a- Passenger areas counted for determining Multi-Environment errors now.
ME displays fractional tonnage
First off nice work. Is it possible to alter the Hull configuration to either include all the shapes of a give configuration or have two boxes to select hull configurations. Example
Streamlined: Needle, wedge, disc, lifting body, lozenge, boxy with rounded nose. (You currently only have Needle and Wedge)

or

Give us a box to choose Standard, Streamlined, Sphere, Closed Structure, Dispersed Structure or Planetoid/Buffered Planetoid, and a second box for use to add the shape desired (either typed in or a dropdown box with a list of shape tailored to the main configuration type.)

New Version: 2025.03.06

Adjusted more displays to show decimal fractions
WIP on one box for standard HG'22 Hull Configurations and another for a secondary description.

Taking suggestions on additional shapes... doesn't mean I'll add them... ;)

Here are the ones in the HG22 with the addition of Hemisphere

Standard
Boxy
Cylindrical
Joined Boxes

Streamlined
Needle
Wedge
Disc
Lifting Body
Lozenge
Rounded Nose

Sphere
Sphere
Hemisphere (Added)

Closed Structure
Boxes joined by struts
Boxes w/projecting elements

Dispersed Structure
Irregular shapes
Open Framework
Rings

Planetoid
Generally Lumpy
Rounded Potato

Buffed Planetoid
Generally lumpy
Rounded Potato

Closed structure is defined by being boxy with things sticking out. Will keep descriptions of both standard and Close structure to Boxy and Smoothed pending persuading arguments to the contrary. Will add the blocked off cylinder. Star Trek's Olympic Class might be an example of a Smoothed Close Structure, but it's certainly not boxy.
Edit: Here is the current table

Great work on the spreadsheet, no sarcasm, very useful.
I want to play with some ideas using Ramscoops, HG 50, and I can't find 'em. Didn't get any hits on searches so I'm assuming nobody's mentioned them yet.

Ramscoops implemented

Will give you an error if you have a streamlined ship with ramscoops unless the hull is adjustable.

I have encountered a strange problem.
If I add even one ton of common areas, the summary tab goes haywire.
Maybe it's something to do with my excel...

Is this the new version, and does it do that if you add staterooms first or use a number other than one?
Will be lunch-ish Eastern time zone before I can get to my computer.

Unable to duplicate.
What version of Excel are you using?
Is Common Area the only change in the #ARG! example?

Got it. A "," instead of a "." (from the default system settings) in the excel settings used as a decimal separator was causing problems. Yeah, here in Poland we always have to complicate things for ourselves
