Errata for Robots?

Infojunky

Mongoose
Was sitting down to use Robots last night and there are some issues with it.

A half meter long tread unit weighs one ton?

Dexterity is all about which manipulator installed?

I should have made a list, The book is fine except for the details.

So any help?

I take it no then....

Mongoose doesn't seem particularly supportive of errata, even those they've released.

I posted in the Legend forum asking about Lankhmar Unleashed errata and whether the current print contained corrections. Like here, no answer was ever posted.

I had found evidence of the LU errata having been released, but it's not actually available on the site as far as I can tell. It seems its just being passed around like contraband. Doesn't really leave me feeling reassured about support, so I didn't bother picking up the book.

Precision or power grip. Or were you talking about limbs/wheels for being mobile?

In general figuring out what a particular bots Dexterity stat is. The only place it is addressed is in the Manipulator section.

It looks like, in this case, Dexterity for robots depends mostly on the quality/type of the manipulator.

Biological Frame gets a roll for Dex
Gyroscope can increase dex by 2
Advanced Reflexes (software) can also increase Dex

And rocket-fists are goofy.

Cool.

And I think I have figured out where to fix the obviously broken parts from, the original Robots rules from jTas... With a little bit of compare and contrast it looks fine....

Though right now it is starting to look like a simple idea is turning into a project....

On first look through the newly translated German 'Robots' book looks like an updated version of CT Robots, with more examples and a bit more logical "flow"... all updated to MGT.

I have not gone through it to any great depth though.

Hum.... Need more than that, remember CT's Robots was written by the DGP crowd and was the Harbinger of Errata to come....

There were the robot articles in JTAS before that, as well as Research Station Gamma, iirc.

Whatever the origin, this new robots is a typical German product: high quality, but at a premium price; the example robots are nice, however. I'd like to see more work by these guys.

I read through the book again. Then looked at other Traveller books (past and present) on tracked robots (and even tracked vehicles). The construction rules are very vague and/or conflicting when it comes to designing tracked movement.

For the track weight mentioned in Robots, I'd expect a robot 20-30 feet long or high. But that is more of a vehicle to me. I could not find a guide rule for robots that are human size, that use tracked motion, that made sense, from any Traveller book. I guess we are to just hand-wave tracked technology like the writers did.
