Earth-Centauri war outcome.

would be nice to see, but Matt seems touchy if anyone mentions the staff from the event, and I think one of them was writing the article.

I doubt there'll be a new ship, since there aren't going to be any more minis. Can't expect everyone to scratch-build.

Maybe a new variant?

depends if it was playtested like the origional gaim. . ahem...

you know it had to be said guys ;-)

To be fair, the big problem with playtesting is that all too often it is reasonable and fair people who are invited to playtest. What it needs is a few people who would really abuse the system!

Thats why they gave the tier2 playtesting to us ;)
We said Gaim were broken. They said "Nah they're fine you're just having a knee-jerk reaction". Now, the Gaim are being re-balanced........

actually, I mostly just corrected spelling and grammar... yes, I know, me, mr terrible speller!!

Apparently the Gaim just didn't have time to get playtested properly... although I could see they were broken just by reading their stats, so why they needed any playtest time at all...

...yeah, I'm in a gripey mood. So sue me...

Actually, we didn't really say that! What was said was that we needed more time to playtest them (we said this before they got sent to you too). This time though hopefully there should be enough time. I'll be getting in at least a game this weekend.

Bah...

A number of folks did indeed tell us we were having knee jerk reactions, but I'll believe the new list is balanced when I see it. My house mate asked why I thought they were broken and she compared them to the Pharon that came out last for Vor, lots of cool ideas, but too many on one race.

Anyway...

all over now...

I have to agree with you. Playtesting wasn't needed to see that the Gaim weren't balanced. They were a bit off even to the naked eye. Truthfully, if they didn't have time to playtest they should have held off on the release for a month or so and just released them in a S&P article. That is effectively what they are doing now only after much uproar that they are unbalanced.

Didnt the outcome say that earth was gonna get some fancy new missle? that would just require some stats. And they could give out stats for a new ship, its up to us what to do with them. Most people would probably just proxy if they dont feel like scratch building.

During the event - the opportunity was there for both Admirals to spend money on R+D - Katadder spent quite a bit - and we had access to both GEG's to put on ships - mostly on our Liati's  and Dilgar bolters for our Drakh.

Earth spent less I believe and later in the tournament got better missiles for their EA ships.

According to the Campaign pack - both Earth and the Gaim should get a new state of the Art ship - even if the former lost its home world

I was under the impression that Earth spent more than the Centauri - a whole lot more! Could be wrong of course, but I was with Earthforce and my travelling companions were both in the Centauri faction and they told me that the R&D spend by the Centauri wasn't huge.
