[DW] Clarification on Warlocks

I cannot quite understand how Warlocks are supposed to work w.r.t. the Weapon groups. The book says that the Warlock "is equally skilled in the use of all weapons". Does this "skill" refer to his Attack score at -2, which then improves to his normal Attack score for only two Weapon groups at third level. OR, does it mean that he has his full Attack score for all weapons at start, but then when he goes to third level, he retains his normal score only for two Weapon groups?

Cheers,
Antonio

provided the Rules haven't changed to much with the Revision, at 1st & 2nd levels they are equally proficient with all weapons, starting from third level the demands of practising the Martial and Arcane arts means they take the Penalty of -2 Att & Def if they don't have the appropriate Weapons Group.

Hi,
thanks, that's the answer I got on the Dragon Warriors yahoo group.
It seems a bit odd that characters instead of improving get worse! I think I will houserule this aspect if I use Warlocks at all.

It's a Balance thing, at Ranks 1&2 Warlocks don't have any one Spell that will certainly swing a Battle, so most Warlocks will save their few MP for "Heal Injury", from Rank 3 they have enough MP to throw around to try some of their Rank 1&2 spells (both in and out of battle) plus Havoc and Enhancement can seal a Battle and their other Rank 3 spells can be darn useful, and that's just the start of it.

Besides it's easy to keep to two Weapon Groups (hell even two weapons), the number of Knights that stick to just Sword & Shield and either a Bow or less common X-Bow is almost incalculable, Darn it I know lots of Knights that forgo Ranged Weapons altogether. Then their are the Barbarians that use nothing but their Two Handed Sword.
