Drinax idea about anagathics

Just wondering if anyone else sees this as an option for an income stream for the King. he has been selling artwork from the Royal collection to fund things, but there could be a different option.

King Oleb is 105 years old, and has been taking anagathics since his 50's. The Scholars Tower has Tech level 15 technology, and enough genetic knowledge to rebuild the Prince. Since synthetic Anagathics are possible at Tech 15, it may be possible that the Tower has been manufacturing synthetic anagathics for the king for decades.

Anyone else gone down this route? Have the King be a source for anagathics? This could offer income of political gain.

It's possible, given Drinax's chronic lack of resources, that the Tower can only produce a small supply of anagathics.

Ambitious player characters could go out, score more raw materials, convert them to anagathics, and then go dealing drugs across the stars...

Since the way the campaign starts Drinax is suffering a slow death I assume the profits from making anagethics simply aren't enough to make a difference. ...At least in the scale they are doing it when the campaign starts.

I'm not sure if turning it into a major business would be enough to make real change for Drinax but it could work as one of the first objectives for the players. Make a bit money and connections (the connections would probably be more valuable in the long run) while setting up the business or use it as the cover story for your ship while working on your piracy.

Askold: that was my thinking, a bribe of 2 -3 million credits gets you good favours, but a bribe in the form of "stay the same age for a decade" makes you friends, and the darker part is that in a decade, having consumed the monthly pill the user is now dependent on getting anagathics or they face an aging crisis. This can put the supplier in a very politically or financially interesting position.

It is something I am thinking about because my players are all older and a few have asked about anagathics for their own use.
The movie nad tv show Limitless point to roleplay opportunities for supply and demand of an enhancing drug. In this case it is for anagathics, but I will happily scoop ideas from wherever.
