Drazi sleekbird seems good value for money?

Is the sleekbird correct, patrol level ship with all those troops and 12 twin linked close range weapons.

Got to get me a couple of them.

I would be interested to hear from Drazi players. I love the Drazi but did not do with them under 1st edition. 2e they look to be more formadable?

I am not playing Drazi either but the Sleekbird seems to be very good. Since the Warbird is a Skirmish ship it seems odd that the Sleekbird(Warbird Variant) isn't. Though a single boresight weapon is a big problem against a wing of fighters. Though the Sleekbird has Hull 5 and is agile it will be hard against a wing of good fighters.

It does not look good enough to be skirmish, and of course the weapons only have a range of 4 inches, but having troops and boarding thingies with all that hull to protect it means it has a good chance of making it to the target. It would be a waste of firepower to blow up a patrol level ship with that much hull, i would just have to ignore it and hope for the best

I am deffinitely going to field a couple. I think the only new drazi models i need to buy a couple of those new fast cruisers, other than that i can make do with what i have.

It doies have great firepower. But its guns are only 4" and with a minimum movement of 3" with agile, you might still overshoot a target anyway......

Still 6" minimum movement (unless you All Stop). Agile only lets you turn sooner, it doesn't allow you to move less than 1/2 speed.

I guess he is refering to fact can make first turn after 3"? :)

I think he's mistaking the first point at which you can turn with a minimum movement requirement.

You're all right that the Sleekbird has really good firepower but you'll get to use it so infrequently that there is a real tradeoff. If you think you can get in there easily enough then by all means, try to take a fleet of them ;)

I think 1-2 might be useful as they are only patrol level and would make good init sinks.

They are relatively difficult to destroy, just not worth it so will not attract much fire.

I don't like a single ship fleet of almost any type.

I think my 2 exceptions are

White stars

And maybe Vorchans/Demos, really fancy playing a whole battle with all 12 of my vorchan / demos models that would be cool...

One single hull type fleet I always wanted to be able to do was the seven G'Quans that are ambushed by the Shadows. Not sure it would be at all viable in ACtA, but that is the Narn fleet I always wanted to fly.

Ahh thats what i get for not having the book yet. (Like that is my fault :P)

Yes well seriously, that really makes matters worse. now your up to 3" plus another 3" at whatever crazy angle, to still get your boresight on target.......

I guess youre going to fly attack runs with this bastard. Overshoot and return for the next run.....

Unless someone is nice enough to let you tail him at 6" speed ^^.

Running attack runs is pretty much a staple Drazi tactic. The trick is getting the angles right so you can latch onto another target as soon as possible afterwards.

Not sure if its in 2nd Edtion but there IS a scenario for that in Armageddon you know ;)

True about Drazi doing running attacks anyway. Its just that with 8" or more weapon range, you can actually tail an enemy. But with 4" weapon range youre more of less forced into attack runs, since practically no one will let you tail at the sleekbirds rather high speed.
