So is Chaos just a nebulous force that sometimes covers certain monsters in it's domain or is it more defined than that?

Pretty much. It's the gnawing cancer that wants to destroy the world. It is a little more mindless than the forces of Chaos in the Elric books, but not completely so. Some monsters are almost pure chaos, such as the slimy gorp, others are twisted abominations of regular creatures such as the broo and the walktapus, and some are very close to being normal creatures, like ogres. One thing that's fairly common across chaotic creatures is a hatred of the world and everything in it, including themselves.

I think there's something in the Fronela material that talks about a God Learner expedition to Dorastor that awakens the sleeping chaos there. *edit* I mean the Ralios material, not Fronela.

It's in The Abiding Book, not auteur that's where I read it or if it's in the Ralios stuff as well.

There are references to God Learner/Dorastor interference in both Fronela and The Abiding Book.

A major scenario was initially scheduled with Fronela but was discarded in the final production.

The scenario had nothing to do with Chaos though. It centered on a growing conflict between the God Learner and EWF Janube city states. In fact, the scenario that found its way into 'Necromantic Arts' is a modified version of the Fronela scenario.
