Dispalay Cases

It's a shame no one out there makes custome display case for a reasonable price. I knew a guy that made custome display cases for a reasonable price. But, he no longer is in bussiness. So, the question is. do any of you know if there are individuals out there that make custom display cases?

This might be something I could do, once I get into wood working (its my 'next' hobby, once I collect the tools I need to start...).

What sort of features/design would you be looking for in a display case?

You're also probably going to be looking at something more expensive. My woman wants me to build a table, but I've been comparing prices between what it would cost me vs. what I can buy from something like Ikea and Ikea wins hands down for lower price.

These are the Features I'm looking for. I like it have a mirror in the back of the cabinet. Along with adjustable selves. Also, some lighting in the cabinet. I like a cabinet that can hold considerable amount of miniatures without breaking the selves.

I don't really need to have a fansy cabinet. Just something that is reasonable $.

thats because something you make yourself will probably be made of better matereals, and be a lot more sturdy than a comparable ikea product!! The big outlay is the tools, but once they are bought then you can crack on. To be honest, if price for new wood bothers you, don't be afraid to go down a scrap yard, or recycling centre, or even second hand stores, buy old wooden stuff and recycle it. If you know roughly what you are looking for, you can get some great stuff, just needs some working to make it shiny and clean again.

as for a display case, seriously, very very easy to make. of course if you would prefer not too, a joiner from the local paper would probably make you one to your design, though this would cost you a little more.

i got a nice one that's wall mounted from ikea, you have to fit the lights yourself and it has no mirror but you could easily add one

28" up and down by 22" across, 9" deep four glass shelfs roughly 5" apart.

dont know if they still have them.
