Dilgar Fleet

TGT

Banded Mongoose
Hi,
I'm looking for suggestions on a 5pt Raid level fleet for Dilgar.
Ship limit is 8 or less and not incl rules/ships from P&P.
It'll probably face EA at early or third age
cheers!

Hmmmm - A wonder which tourney thats going to be used in!!!

1 x Garasoch (1.0)
2 x Targrath (2.0)
1 x Ochlavita-Ki (0.5)
2 x Ochlavita (1.0)
2 x Jashakar-Vi (0.5)

Exactly 8 - All fast-ish moving with plenty of firepower and command, as well as a carrier (take torpedo fighters) which can stand off from AF range and then re-roll with the scouts - Devastating!

Damn - There goes my fleet selection!

AT the moment i'm trying

1x Jashakar-Vi scout(0.25)

these in a pentacon
1 x Garasoch (1.0)
1 x Targrath (1.0)
1 x Ochlavita-Ki (0.5)
1x Jashakar-Vi scouts(0.25)
1x Tikrit (2.0)
the Garasoch will use the +1 CQ to scramble scramble until empty then will detach from the pentacon as an intiative sink.

I'll be on close blast doors on turn 2 so first turn release torpedoes hoping i get a scout roll lock on.

I'd have the 2nd Scout in the Pentacon instead of the Tikrit... that way, your getting a +1 CQ on two scout rolls. Also, the Tikrit is your big hitter, so leave him roaming free (and moving last).

That way, you can have your Pentacon of Ochlavita, Garasoch, Targrath and 2 scouts benefit from the +1 for the scout rolls and the Garasoch's "Scramble Scramble" in turn 1, break off the Targrath in turn 2 and can still gain the pentacon ability with the remaining 4 ships (weird, but true) the Targrath and the Tikrit can then be used to maximum effect...

thanks Kenny
I thought of that as well and changed once you'd confimred it was a good idea

You say to break off the Targrath but not the Garasoch, I'd keep the latter until its launched all fighters, then break away. Its interesting you say to break the Targrath off as well I hadn't thought of that.
The three remaining ships if allive will still be a pentacon so yes I can see that as a very good idea.

No, a Pentacon reduced to 4 ships still gets the bonus rules, a pentacon reduced to 3 ships reverts to a normal squadron.
Also, the Garasoch can be emptied in one succesful "Scramble" - it is a Fleet Carrier, so starts with 5 fighters deployed, is Carrier 3, so a succesful Scramble will put the remaining 5 fighters out... simples! 8)

I wouldn't take the Tikrit personally, I would rather have the additional ships, especially as the Tikrit is Hull 5 and will be the main target!

Concur with the scouts in the pentacon though.

I would take 4x Garasoch, load em up with torpedofighters. An Ochlavita-Ki for command bonus and 2 scouts to give your fighters redirects, or just 3 scouts. Or even just to keep it simple, 5x Garasoch!

Then pray you don't get Gaimed!

Yep I would rather take the two Targraths but I'm trying out the Tikrit only this once.
I guess by its omission the Omelos doesn't figure well against previous best choices.

Yes 5 Garasoch would be lovely but mortgage level expensive!

Omelos is a good ship, but I think the Targrath pips it - Just!

The Targrath has more damage and is slightly faster (12).

True the Omelos has slightly more weapons, but the Targrath has 8AD of bolters which means more chance of triple damage and of course the Targrath has two fighters to the Omelos' one.

So overall I would take the Targrath where possible, but don't get me wrong the Omelos is still a good ship.

I agree with KennyBoy, in a large fleet engagement, both ships mix very well togther, in fact the Dilgar are one of the few fleets that mesh so well.

Always looking to play a big battle with them, I have nearly 10 war points of Dilgar to play with!

This might be a slight tangent, but every time I see the stats for the tikrit I think of battlecruisers. A big ship, with big guns, and decent speed. But light armour.

well we had the game on friday and
I took the two targraths instead of the tikrit, a third targrath, a garasoch, 2 scouts and a cmd frgate
Mark took three novas and a
hyperion assault, 4x hermes and a artemis
all with auroras

I had a couple of dust clouds as did mark

he split off a couple of hermes on one flank and the rest of his ships took up a central and left flank position.
i squadroned the 2 targraths not in a pentacon.

I consistantly won intiative all game and managed to fighter swarm first his hermes all on their lonesome then his fighters, before overwhelming a nova...all for the loss of one flight of torpedo bombers

in reflection i think he should've taken hyperions rather than novas as he was so ponderous trying to get all his arcs in that i was getting quite bored by the third turn of shooting.
personally i would've taken hyperions close all blast doors and squadron a few to act as snipers using the hermes as initiative sinks.

all my ships survived with most of the damage if not all the damage on the garasoch, about half damage done.
the only mistake i think i could reflect on was not using the pulsars to wear down his interceptors before i fired a salvo of bolters and torpedos.
though the pulsars were from the garasoch which needed a 4+ to fire.

So final fleet selection soon then?

Go on take the Targraths, you know you want too - Dilgar Power Rules! :D
