Deckplans to adventure type ships.

Thile

Mongoose
If possible, could Mongoose please publish better/bigger deckplans for the typical traveller-type ships (Scouts, Safari Ships, Free/far Trader etc) The ones in the books are so small that you can hardly use them and if one try to scan them and make the images bigger for the players to use, they become so bad quality that they are almost unable to be used.

I would prefer bigger deckplans. Where you actually can read what the little box with the explanations mean. My adventurers started out with a Safari Ship and when I got the book with it, the deckplan was less than halfa page big and it was hard to see everything on it.

I'd have to agree with the OP.

I also think that Mongoose is really missing a great opportunity to make colour maps and deck plans. I know that it isn't their bread and butter and that there are third party agreements in place but the pace of release seems to be glacial.

Why not commission colour plans in 15mm and then package them up like the map poster packs?

I agree with you but most miniatures are 25mm scale. Maybe 15mm on one side and 25mm on the other. GURPS does that for their deck plans, but they do grid on one side and hex on the other, both at 25mm.

I like that idea!

FYI; There has been a renaissance in 15mm sci fi miniatures in the last 2 years.

Check out The Miniatures Page and their 15mm sci fi forum for details.

I would say that there is now an incredible amount of contemporary sculpts in 15mm that are perfect for Traveller.

One problem with printed deckplans now is the sheer variety. Aside from the core book's selection, which ones do you do with any hope of profit?

maybe some from Merchants & Traders, like the Safari Ship, Wild Trader, typical player owned and controlled ships 100-600 dton ships in the various books.

I know GURPS issued a few 25mm sized deck plans.
100 ton scout
200 ton free trader
200 ton far trader
400 ton SSB
and 50 ton modular cutter.
There might be more but I could be wrong.

Another way (but kinda crappy) is to take the pdf deck plans, scale them up on your computer, then print them out on several sheets, taping them together. Then you could use miniature on them. I know, crappy, but unless you have access to a large scale plotter, that's the only current way to make large, miniature scaled deck plans.

Scrying Eye Games have several 25mm colored Traveller ship deck plans. We had a couple in my store for a short while.

Also do a search for "starship deck plans", there's a lot out there.

Picked up every one of these back in the day. Another good SJGames book was the modular cutter book that had all the variant deckplans in it.
