custom unit - USMC Combat Engineers

Paladin

Mongoose
The latest idea, let me know what you think (be gentle :D). It's not playtested, just fiddling with the idea:

Combat Engineers
150 pts.
Target: 4+
Armor: 4+
Kill: 6+
Move: 4"
Close Combat: D6

Squad: Sergeant w/M-16A4, 3 Riflemen w/M-16A4

Special Rules
M18A1 Claymore Mines: Every rifleman in the Combat Engineers is also equipped with 2 powerful Claymore Mine charges. These may be deployed in any round with a Ready Action. When deployed they must be assigned one of the 90 degree Fire Arcs. Any enemy model that comes within 3” of the Claymore will trigger the mine. The explosion will detonate in a 6” radius across the full fire arc designated.
Range: 6"
Damage: D6 to all models in the AoE
Possibly a d6+2 to damage, and -1 pt per 2" away from the mine (i.e. 1-2" = d6+2, 3-4" = d6+1, 5-6" d6)

Contemplating this as an expansion on the ability:
A second Ready action may be taken on the mines to arm them with remote detonators. When readied the USMC unit may forgo the standard detonation method and may instead choose to detonate the mine at any point during the remainder of the game. Mines may only be deployed in one method.

Also you might add something where they could Improve a position if they are defending, perhaps 1 area per unit?

I'll put ideas on how it might work on the Evo Command, as well writing here gets me in trouble

Thought about that but not sure that's viable in the short term of the game. Though you could make it an innate ability that they get to include some sort of bunker/structure during initial deployment rather than improve it during combat.

Seems pretty good to me, but I'm no good at judging such stuff, now am I?

Still, the pic looks pretty good, gotta be one hungre marine!

It'll probably be easiest to allow so and so points of emplacements for free, or perhaps a certain type of emplacement.

This would allow them to both set the claymore, and use emplacements to funnel the enemy into it, or force them to go around.

Put a more detailed look on the Command fourms.
