Crusade Era, needs to relax a litte!

I go the Crusade ERA box for Christmas and there are 2 Armageddon level ships there. Crusade era is ridiculously top heavy and the boxed fleet is unusable - I mean who's going to field 2 EA Armageddon ships?

I don't mind the EA ships being tough, but wouldn't the EA have a need for ships of all Priority levels? Couldn't they use their super tech and make smaller ships too?

You would think that after the EA fleet gets trashed twice in a relative short period that the EA would need to build patrol and skirmish level ships to fill in gaps in the short run. The fluff states that the Marathon was rushed into production, then why not have the Hermes and Tethys replacements rushed into production as well. I could see a skirmish level Hermes replacement with more missles and fighters.

Super tech=better ship=higher priority. Remember that the priority levels are for balancing, not for actual use per se(though gives idea). If EA designs patrol ship that is worth of skirmish level ship then it's skirmish choise in ACTA

At this point the EA picket ship is the chronos. Hermes is an armed transport and courier rather than a warship, hence it didn't need replaicng so much.

A good way to describe this it the hyperion:

The early Hyperion variants didn't have an especially efficient main armament (railguns/missiles were ok but not devastating). Skirmish priority

Later on, the EA developed the examples of centauri battle lasers the narn supplied into a replicable heavy laser which quickly became the standard armament. This earns the Hyperion the 'heavy' cruiser bracket and it's moved up to raid.

The Marathon is also a cruiser - or to put it another way, it's the latest generation descendant of the hyperion. It's chock full of the latest toys, and is battle priority

altho going by matts update on 2e you will see the nemesis is leaving the EA fleet for the psi-corps instead.

Also going by Matts pots though theres going to be a new patrol level Tethys replacement and a skirmish level version of the Chronos too.
