Crusade Era Fleet box question

Why is there a single Hyperion heavy cruiser in there? Its all advanced warships EXCEPT this one. Does mongoose just have a massive number of these ships and have decided to put them in EVERY Earth fleet box?

I did some searches to see if this has already been addressed... but came up with nothing. Lots of content, its very possible I missed it.

the Hyperion is the Raid level ship option if you want something to fight with, the other vessesl at raid are specialist vehicles, hence their being a lone Hyperion

Which is why I am going to be using Delphi models to represent Hyperion's in my Crusade era fleet. Have you seen how many turrets that thing is bristling with?

And then for my Delphi I'll take the turrets off and add lots of antenna.

Fluff wise, the Marathon replaces it - though there's a lot of them still in service, but there's no other combat vessel at Raid level in the Crusade fleet

That we do, and in the film "A Call To Arms", but the split (at least in Armageddon, haven't received my 2e books as yet) between Third Age and Crusade fleets comes after the Drakh attack on Earth in 2266. So no Novas in Crusade fleets. Pity, I like them too.

Nova are a lot less impressive in e2, you'll not miss em in the crusade era fleet.

Definitely lost the 'hehehehehe' factor they did have.

Oh, I am not so sure about that. You will see a Nova performing very well in S&P's next CTA battle report. Earned a nomination for Ship of the Match if nothing else!

i have my charybdis cruiser to replace it but it not an "official ship".

Nova, only used it once under the new stats (3rd age version) and it under impressed. Basically it was just a big fat target to move first so that the hyperion could line up the boresight and kill the enemy. Don't think it even got it's broadside into arc and range of the enemy.

Will wait to see how it performs in the future before I relegate it to the back of the box where the never used ships lurk, it's too nice a figure to give up on yet, but it's not great.
