Cross-overs races

Ok guys, some more thoughts from the ST geek-lord...

Bridge Commander and Legacy, while moderately entertaining were, at best, grossly inaccurate. Forget them. :wink:

Now then. Phasers are devastating weapons, just not as brutally destructive as disruptors. For the really big phaser arrays, like the type XII arrays on the Sovereign-class I'd suggest beam, precise and DD. Observe the Galaxy-class Enterprise annihilate a Klingon Bird of Prey with a few seconds of fire from one type X array. Very powerful weapons indeed.

Pulsing phasers might get DD as well since they were designed to concentrate phaser energy into very powerful blasts, so maybe SAP, precise, DD for those.

More thoughts after I've eaten.
 
Not trying to outgeek you O Denied One :wink: , wasn't that incident with the bird of preys (K'vorts nonetheless) in an alternate reality in which the Enterprise D was a battleship? Another worthy mention would be the modified Enterprise D in All Good Things destroying a Negh'Var pretty easily!

An "our universe" Enterprise D succumbed to firepower of two pirate B'rel bird of preys (Doh!) And it could be done in Bridge Commander (Double Doh!!)

I have to say that I'm sometimes confused by the power levels of starships in Star Trek. Ok, granted that phasers have different beam settings and it takes time to adjust and everything...But IMHO, computer games may provide some basis for consistency. Just what Sigmar may need for an ActA conversion.
 
should look at how weapons take effect in SFB and think of how they could work in ACTA.
also how would you do cloaking? and mini warp speed jumps to more effective parts of the battlefield.

It was an alternate reality but nothing was said about the Galaxy-class being up-gunned. It was already the most powerful Federation ship class when launched. The Enterprise was beaten by the two B'rels because they had the shield frequencies (and plot). Normally it wouldn't have happened.

Cloaking I'd handle like subs in VaS, appear anywhere on the table when they decloak, but they'd also be able to vanish off the table when they cloak again. Of course, they'd declare cloaking, then sit there with no shields for the rest of the turn and then vanish in the end phase, so you'd get chase to whack them...
 
Cloaking - Stealth X until you fire then 0 Stealth? Probably work fine.

Also remember that many ships in most shows are "plot powered" and have the right amount of firepower for the particular scene / story etc :)

Nothing was said about them being in the same configuration either :? Divergence started when Enterprise C disapeared. It is conceivable that the Galaxy class designed for war may be more powerful than the one designed in peace time.

The two B'rels had the Enterprise's shield frequency? I thought the shield held up for a couple of minutes. Need to rewatch it... "Rascals" right? The one that destroyed it in Generations definitely did though.

Exactly... that's why the show alone would be a poor basis for a game. My favorite example in B5 is the Avioki. I heard it's quite a ship in ACTA. In the show it does little other than flying and exploding!
 
How about this.

Patrol:
Peregine class,Runabouts and Shuttles.

Skirmish:
Defiant.
Nebula.

Raid:
Intrepid class.
Excelsior class.

Battle:
Galaxy Class.

War:
Sovereign class.

Armagedon:
None. I don't think the Federation should have a ship in this category since they don't make specific Warships (excluding the Defiant class.)
 
Nebula for skirmish? I thought they were almost as good as a Galaxy in standard config... A battleship version might have an even bigger punch.

I'd say add Miranda and Saber for skirmish. Add Steamrunner and Akira for raid. Prometheus may be another War level vessel. Oh, dont forget the Venture class for scouting.

Ah I remember some fun BFG vs Star Trek games

Borg vs Imperials - some fun adapation rules there - although the Nova cannon was pretty effective!

and Eldar vs Federation / Klingons

We had runabouts as bombers........

Another thing if you are crossing over - most B5 ships are much larger than a ST ship - I think the White Star is about the same size as Federation capital ships!

look forward to Shadows vs Borg! (doubt the Shadows will let them have time to adapt) and the original Species 8472 seemed to have similar ideas to the Harbingers...............
 
Perhaps swap the Excelsior and Defiant classes?
We did see the Defiant kick USS Lakota's ass (which had been heavily upgraded) and the Excelsior is a very old design.

WOW, the Star Trek ships are tiny compared.

I recommend ignoring the size issues and sticking with Priority levels to determine strength.
Otherwise, well it would be silly?

Akira and Iwo Jima Class at Skirmish, Aegian at Raid
are you allowing the Galaxy to seperate?

Look forward to the Chain Reaction Pulsar torpedo on the Akira

range say 1AD (per torp tub) 18", AP,
if another ship is within 4" roll to hit that ship with SAP,
if another ship within 4" roll to hit with SAP and double damage
and so on :)

Very similar indeed, but a single Bioship defeating 15 Borg cubes? Come on...

Excelsior is still much more powerful than Miranda though... I'd say move the Defiant a notch up.

Yeah! Love Romulan and the warbirds. Drink up baby, good for your health!!! :lol: (As long as you don't linger long enough to get hit by a Negh'Var's Ion Cannon) :(

I wonder what you guys will come up with for the Norexan/Mogai class warbird :)
