Counters for new fleets

I don't know if this has already been asked, but where can I find the counters for new fleets, and new ships for existing ones. I already have Drakhs, but ni gaim, pakmarra, etc.

This is something in which I am interested too.
one player I know wants to try out the gaim, and I would love to suprise people with Drakh...

Use other models as proxy. My Gaim are being represented by my battlefleet gothic Tyranids until the models arrive

in the group of three that game the most with me, i'm the only one who has space ships.
Lukily, one of those players uses narn, but what if he decided that he liked the pak'ma'ra instead?
and i am trying to get more players into the game. saying 'if you spend £50, you'll have a good fleet, oh and you've got to spend £35 on two different rulebooks too' doesn't win may converts
No, I don't say this to them as succinctly as this,

In all honesty though, theres very few wargames where you can get a decent force up for less than £100 including rulebooks! There are a few exceptionally priced optiions out there (Full Thrust and Battletech to name a couple) but for the most part ACTA is pretty affordable (espeically if you buy the box sets, its relatively pricey if you buy single ships Ill grant you)

As a matter of fact, if cost is an issue, they don't really NEED to buy the books so long as someone else in the group has them.
Once they are comfortable with the game and ready to expand more on their own, they can get the books then, but so long as they are just playing within the group...

Mongoose is well aware that the Vast Majority of ACTA gamers would welcome a new 2E Complete Counter pack.
Yet............
We've been asking since Arma.
Nothing.....
There a publishing company, it wouldn't be to hard.
Nothing...

Looks like they want your money (alot of it) for models and are to involved with $$$$ to really care about the counters ( or people who are on a tight budget).

There are several reasons why counters are useful. First, I can try different fleets, different combinations of vessels, then allocate my limited resources to purchasing minis. Second, you're always one ship or fighter short. Counters allow you to expand your fleet. This is especially true early on, when one has not had enough money to buy all of the vessels one wants. Third, while I'm willing to play a game against anybody, there are those with whom I would simply not trust my minis. Additionally, you may be adding a noob to your game but lack the minis to allow them to play.

They probably heard/listened to your demands and then took a quick look at every other gaming company's experience with non-toy (non-model) units and shuddered.

Probably not something they want to experience for themselves...

...However, unpainted plastic models would be a VERY good way to go to reduce prices for some common ships and still avoid the whole "ugh, paper counters, join the 21st century already" reaction from potential new gamers...

Now that is a good idea plastic figure would be great i actually prefer them as they are easier to convert and give you much more freedom, So you could see individual fleets based on the ships basic principle.

Hmmmm

All we need is a PDF, I would print them out and happily use them for all of the usual reasons: trying new fleets, filling in for missing minis, etc. and oh the added get it now oomph of PDF's more than makes up for what I have to say for the most part is a very reasonable cost factor to the medium. So count me in, only reason I didn't PDF the last official counters is cause I got them in the Box set I purchased!

I can understand from a business standpoint why Mongoose may shy away from counters in the over all model, but PDF's could produce a "win-win" situation for us all. Paper only needs artwork (which they have already) and someone willing to format it correctly (ditto, at least a dozen times over on this forum alone) and then an outlet (no brainer) and those who want em can get them, and those who do not never have to see them.....that is until they play somebody with some!

oh and don't get me wrong, the fan created counters have been for the most part stellar, I have not partaken of the fleets that I do not play for quite some time, but that will soon be a changing as well. And having them all in one download would rock however!

I'm still new here, but didn't they do this for ACTA v.1 and SFOS?

Yes. They did them for 1e and SFoS. There are counters in the back of the rule book.

Matt did say in an email that he hopes the 2e counters will be out before the tourney on 13th October.

Oh, I sure hope so. I don't buy the minis, so the counters rock my socks off. I could sub in other races counters (except for those damnable square Vree), but it just doesn't feel the same.
