[Conan] Betrayer of Asgard

hi, new to the boards but I am hoping some good folks out there will be able to help.

*** spoilers ***

I have just started Betrayers of Asgard and although we only have played one session, I have already hit an issue.

You've guessed it the flash back caused two of my players to say, "it doesn't matter what we do, as we get the horn"

thankfully we ran out of time, so they have only just entered the building on the rock.

any tips on how to rescue this scene??
 
I haven't run that adventure myself, but when I read it, I suspected problems like this. If I ever run it, I'll run it in a linear fashion--not using the flashbacks.

I suggest that you don't allow your players to know that you are baffled about how to run the adventure. But, make up some sort of reason for playing the flashback. Maybe make it a dream. Next session, they all wake up after this communal dream where they did have the horn and the Vanir were chasing them. If a character died, then he's back and healthy.

Use the flashback as foreshadowing. It's not real. It's a look at the future. Maybe, it's the unavoidable future.

Then, play the rest of the adventure in a linear fashion. Don't use any of the other flashbacks...UNLESS the dream thing goes over real well. You'll have to figure out why the communal dream happened. Sorcery?
 
game turned out ok thanks

session 2 went okay, the flash back worked well as did the return to the present day
