Colour Conan 2nd Edition?

Waylander

Mongoose
I seem to remember that Mongoose were looking into the cost of producing a special edition of the 2nd Edition that would be in full colour (and hopefully better bound!).

Is this just a rumour or has it been substantiated anywhere? If so any idea of price?

Not surprisingly I'd be quite keen to buy it! :D

I don't know where your read this because my thread asking for a Conan 2E deluxe edition (in full colour of course) was deleted.

It is a good idea of course, but I don't think Mongoose will release a colour edition only one month after they release the 1st (B/W) impression. It owuldn't just make sense as the owner of this printing would feel cheated.

I guess Mongoose has to better learn how to work out the full printing process before we have this. But I think it is (hopefully) a possibility in the future.

Well I'm still soldiering on with the Atlantean Edition at the moment but the idea of having a deluxe edition in 6-12 months time which includes all the errata up to that point would be great! :D

As for "feeling cheated" it is interesting the difference the ire that different companies raise.

WotC were lambasted for bringing out 3.5E so soon after 3.0E (and many see 4.0E as too soon) but my impression is that Mongoose has generally been applauded for producing the RuneQuest Deluxe Edition when early adopter would have already bought the original three books.

I do not think they will do it, and I hope they do not do it.

Black & White is fine with me, as it brings a more better depiction of the feel of Conan.

I do graphics for aliving, and I can eaasily tell that the art in the 2nd edition is color art printed in b/w. I'm not even considering the tome, stricklty because of the look. I'd pay $60 for a color version....easily.

I edited my post.
I was so surprised.
Why just you don't care instead of hoping it won't be published in colour?

Wow - $60 is around £30 at that price I'd buy it in a second! :D

I paid about $50 for the Stargate:SG1 RPG, which was bout 25% color, mostly in the tables, boarders and photos. Even if Mongoose limited themselves to a three color print, using percentages of those colors could look way cool and be pretty cheap.

Maybe next year. Fix the binding issues and do it in color for a $60 price point per unit. Sold.

I'm a huge fan of the Conan RPG game and praise it where ever I can to whoever will listen.

That said, I think $50 for a full color rulebook is the right price. I think the original price of $40 for b&w Conan 2e was perfect. I think that only changed when Mongoose realized they were going to incur additional costs with the binding issues.

Sixty dollars for a color rulebook is too much, IMHO. Especially after picking up the Savage World of Solomon Kane RPG, listed price at $50. A beautiful book, one of the best this year, but $60 would've been hard to swallow for that game.

I wouldn't mind paying 60$ for a full-colour, problemfree (top binding and printed on quality paper) rulebok.

The current B&W one is terrible, I refuse to buy it. :-(

I agree. I'm not getting much besides a compiling of a load of rules that I have supplementary books for anyway (lots of digging thru Hyboria's F books), a few rewrites that I already have houserules for, and the inclusion of Temptresses as core class. Now, if the printing hadn't been super-black, muddy and with lousy tables (c'mon, Mongoose graphics guys - you can do better, even in b/w!!!) I'd have paid upwards to $75 for an expensively bound version.

Perhaps that's an idea: Offer a deluxe color version for more, exclusively on-line, and when you get 1000 requests, send out the print order. I bet that'll work, too.

I was thrilled to see Conan 2E on the shelf at my local game shop, but put ti down quickly when I discovered that it was B&W on the inside.

The 1E book was so fantastic, 2E looked like such a let-down. :(

I would SOOOO buy a Full color 2nd Edition with a good binding (the binding in the quality as 1st Edition was).

Every time I open the new rulebook I have taers in my eyes: Good work, but if I eye the original first edition I can hardly stand the sight ...

Sorry, but b+w and the binding - WHY???

Indeed, WHY??

Come on Mongoose, give us what we want, one of the best RPG:s ever deserves a better fate than this! PLEASE!!

I don't know for Conan but I bought some Runequest book recently (in B/W) from the new Mongoose printing facility and I am quite satisfied.
Their resolution is excellent so that even B/W illustrations are usually very easy to read (it looks sometimes like a relief).
As to the binding, none of the books I bought had any problem. Granted, the biggest had ca. 180 pages (spellbook) but oeverall it is a good job.

I was so disapointed with the RQ Slaine book compared to the d20 Slaine that see myself buying Conan 2nd edition in B/W.
I'd buy a colour one with better binding in a heartbeat.
