Coastal Forces

If one wanted to do a CF only battle using say 1/600 sclae figures, how would you account for damage done by AA guns against the boats?

Has anybody done CF rules for primarily CF or CF only engagements?

Since CFs fought every day in WWII especially in the MED, English Channel and to some extent the Black Sea, I think it would be very cool to have a Coastal Forces conversion for the rules.

Anybody else think this is a good idea or been working on it?

Thanks,

GS

David,

Big fan of your work by the way. I will give Schnell Boote a look for sure.

It would be cool to see a VaS version though. It would allow one to introduce different types of naval warfare to a group using the same game engine.

Thanks,

Pat

Tried out DM's destroyer mod last week and had a fun couple of games. Definately the scale in which coastal forces 'belong'.

David,

Any luck with this? I bought about $400 of 1/1250 stuff from the Last Square at Historicon and am looking forward to playing.

I think I passed you coming out of the dealer hall there, but was on my way to a game and didn't have time to stop.

Alas, it was not me. I've never been to Historicon :(

Very slow progress at the moment I'm afraid. "Real World" issues have me all over the place at the moment. I think I'm spending 3 days at home this month, the rest of the time out of the country on various jobs so the opportunity to do wargames development is sadly lacking just now. Things should calm down in September though.

David, I walked right past a guy whose name tag read "David Manley." I thought, holy cow, that was David Manley! But apparently it wasn't!

Oh well...

I am glad it is still on the workbench though. I am looking forward to it.

David,

I realize you have probably been busy with a multitude of projects, but I was wondering if any headway had been amde on the Coastal Forces variant for VAS?

Thanks in advance,

Patrick

I'm afraid not - AoD took up a lot of my time, and I have alot of "real world" intrusions going on at the moment.

David,

I know a lot is going on in the world, but any light on these?

I would still love to see a coastal version of this game!

Thanks,

Patrick

Ill say one thing you sure have determination, but sometimes these thing take awhile here. But you should be able to get what your looking for in the VAS expasion. It has CF rules ,limited but they are there. Im working on a similar project making homemade landing craft and small ships such as Frigates, Sloops, pontoon boats, tugs, mine layers and sweepers.
Ill wait for a reply to discuss further.

It has been a while since I read them, but as I recall the CF rules in the VAS:OoB expansion are very absracted and represent more than one ship.

What I am hoping for is a scaled up/down version of the rules where CF Boats have individual stats, abilities, and the weapon systems have individual stats.

Basically I want an E-Boat to have stats just like a cruiser. In scale with the rest of the ships they fought everyday. Obviously if they encountered a destroyer or crusier those stats would be incredibly hogh and the ship extremely powerful in scale.

For now Im going with the abstact keep it simple and at small scale its easier that way. What scale of minis are you using?

Heres some generic stuff I built for it so far.
