Clement Sector: Have you played or run games of this?

Hopeless

Mongoose
So I picked up the Hub Sector Sourcebooks and find myself wondering why I haven't really seen anyone commenting on this series.

With Mongoose Traveller 2.0 already being beta tested and as a result a Clement Sector 2.0 being planned I figured it was about time to see what you really think of this setting.

So as the header says have you either played or run this setting and if so what did you think about it?

How did you handle the setting?

What changes did you decide upon and what sector did you focus your games on?

The Clement Sector is the single best setting and to be honest is better than the OTU as far as detail for sure. Every single system has maps and every single planet too. It is richly detailed and is a fantastic setting. Here is a link to my review at DTRPG.

The Clement Sector is an excellent non Third Imperium setting set just over three hundred years in the future.

It is well supported by regular sourcebooks/supplements in both PDF and dead tree format, though it looks like this may slow down with the work being done for 2.0 taking priority (The Wendy's Guides which I was really looking forward too :( ) . The quality of the sourcebooks is really good and in my opinion the art in them has improved with each new release, check out the various previews that gets posted in this forum (the latest one of the three marines is currently my ipad wallpaper).

There is a number of subsectors that have had no human exploration so plenty of opportunities for characters to make a name for themselves and while there is no aliens currently in the setting with the number of worlds not yet explored who knows what is out there....

If you want to get a good idea of the sector for free check out an Introduction to Clement Sector http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/153065/Introduction-to-Clement-Sector?src=newest

Just my tuppence worth

Going to 2nd this. One of the things I enjoy most about the setting is how Zimm Drive is limited to J2. It creates choke points and makes more systems important, which is just fine with the 4+ Subsectors in the setting.

I first encountered the Clement Sector after meeting the creator at Chattacon a few years ago. Clement Sector is a great example of what can be accomplished using Traveller when people create their own setting for the game. It harkens back to the Burgess Shale Era of Traveller ( http://www.freelancetraveller.com/features/othroads/burgess.html ) .

I thoroughly enjoy the setting. It is different. It is original. It functions well as an Alternate Traveller Universe. No aliens, just Earth derived sentients. It is less enourmous than the Official Traveller Universe, so you an dial everything back to a more personal space for your players to roam around in.

What do you mean by "handle"? It plays like a good, rich background for use.

No changes needed. I used the entire sector.

I didn't play in the setting per se yet but I make heavy use of its resources for my "Long Night"-Setting in Diaspora Sector of the OTU.
It provides details, inspiration and crunch (e.g. I use the rules for uplifted animals and genetically altered humans as some sort of toolbox for aliens and non-sentient creatures).
I had already used microjumps according to DGP's SOM from the 90ies so it came quite natural to me to use the short jumps and accordingly their travel times provided by the "Zimm"-drive rules.
"Low tech", lack of a central authority and the rather different aesthetic of the technological "marvels" make the Clement Sector setting with its growing number of almost ready to run subsectors and adventures an extremley valuable resource for me as a Referee with decreasing prep time.
I only have to add the plot and change minor details like names and coordinates and off we go...splendid!

I even incorporated Clement Sector starhips into my ongoing campaign in the Spinward Marches to represent the Federation of Arden with ships that are distinctly different from Imperial or Zhodani designs.

I also own Omer Golan-Joel's excellent Outer Veil and 2300AD but both fill a somewhat different niche and don't come up as fitting with my current "vision" of myTU.
I also came to appreciate the Gypsy Knights Games community who are a good natured and helpful bunch of gaming geeks.
That's all I can add to the discussion for the moment although it doesn't meet the header of the thread to exactly.
I hope you can bear with me...
Good gaming!
