Character sheet

Hi,

Just bought Traveller yesterday from Forbidden Planet.

I'm looking at the back of the book where there is a blank character sheet. It's a bit puzzling. OK, I can see there are 6 characteristics, "Str, etc, etc, ... Soc".

As far as I can tell, each characteristc only needs one block to write it in. Instead each characteristic has a line of blocks. What are they used for?

Instead of writing in the numerical value do you just shade in the bar to the level of the characteristic that you have?

TIA

Combat (and other) damage directly subtracts from STR, DEX, END and reductions there will reduce bonuses to assorted rolls from characteristics, so it is easier to grasp, I guess, visually.

Phil, one day I have just GOT to meet you.

I played and ran SO like crazy in the 80's, it got me through my year tour in South Korea and it's the system that taught me how to 'wing it'!
