Carrier - Fighter XP in campaigns

QUestion regarding the accumulation of XP in campaign games:

I know that fighters dont gain XP, but how do carriers gain XP other than by the direct damage of their OWN weapons (which is pretty unlikely on the whole for ships like EA styles).... could they get the relevant XP via their fighters instead?

Not outside of house rules. Remember that the carrier will still get XP for surviving and/or winning a battle. And you can always let it get the last shot in at a nearly-destroyed target to score XP for the kill.

aye, true, had forgotten about the xp just for taking part.

still, i wonder if it would be worth making it a house rule...means we'd ahve to track what fighters belonged to what ship etc etc... probably too much hassle in the long term.

hmm...

Its an interesting idea - but as you say could be a bit of pain to implement. Depends alot on the games you are playing - if only a few fighters might be ok - if you are including EA or Gaim probably not worth it.

Also gaining XP with carriers is easier with some Carriers - Centauri Fleet Carriers are a good match for other ships can stand well in the actual line of battle with good damage adn powerful weapons. :)

I find a lot of carriers usually dig in to the ship to ship combat late game, and can often tip the balance long after their fighters have been swatted out of the sky. The Brakiri and Centauri carriers are very handy and my Avengers have picked up a kill or three on heavily damaged enemy capital ships.
