Cannot hit on next CA?

Whenever you get a "cannot hit on next CA" result, if you don't do anything else during that series of Strike Ranks, do you lose the CA? I'm thinking yes, but want to make sure.

As I understand it:

When your next CA comes up you must do something.

Choosing 'Do Nothing' (p.84) is a valid selection and uses up your CA. The player could also Delay but the restrictions on 'cannot attack' still apply when he does act.

Also the perfect time to change to a more favorable range. Get right in the face of the spear guy or run away from the dagger guy are useful in a fight, mostly the last.

I would most likely rule that casting a spell is also an attack, at least if it's aimed at the enemy or somewhere else. If you are too out of balance to wack a heavy stick at someone, you're probably too out of balance to make intricate gestures and academic wordings at the same person ;)
