Campaign on Vassal

it could be a pain in the ass but would be good fun, im willing to go with what lord david said.

At the end of the day u only need to sort out a time.

I'm with JayRaider on this. A 2 person game takes long enough...can't imagine a 4 person. If this is what the masses want however, I won't object.

The reality of organising game times is hard enough for 2 players, nevermind 3-4. :(
I don't want to see this campaign get bogged down.

I strongly vote: No on this issue.
PS i've sent my Strat target to gamesmaster.

i was just thinking what is every ones time zone.
and when are we most likely able to play on vassal.

it might come in handy if we all just posted this info and write it down some were.

well if two players are against the joint attacks i will have two say no aswell i dont wont to be responsable for messing it up for every one.

Its not only the differing timezones, but the length of gameplay involved.
In my previous vassal games 1v1, 5PT Raid, have all taken between 4-6 hours, this is would increase with more opponents!

I'm on GMT+1 (British Summer Time. Thank you Conservative government...) and I can play most times of most days.

I'm happy for joint attacks to happen if people can arrange it. If it's causing a problem at any given time, all it takes is some common sense on the part of the involved players. Some could back out of the fight, or supply ships from their list to be commanded by the allied player.

British Summer Time too at my end.

I'm with Jay on the joint attacks - let us get on with the campaign as normal for now, keeping everything as simple as possible to keep things flowing.

My strategic targets will be nominated tomorrow...

There is however nothing to stop you launching sequential attacks on the same target. If you've notified me beforehand you won't have to fight one another.

You can also 'loan' another player the use of one of your warships (if you wouldn't for example have sufficient ships availible) - easier than a 3-way game. Provided you trust them not to lose it.

Bear in mind that no alliance is in any way binding, and you are allowed and encouraged to secretly form alternate arrangements; which may involve withholding support and/or actively backstabbing someone at the critical point....

You don't normally play double-blind, either.
The normal campaign is meant for running with each player taking a turn in sequence rather than running more or less simultaneously as we're going to need to do this. However it holds a lot less options for creative surprises.

If more than two people attack the same target, you'll end up with a sucessive fight or two seperate battles over a target, as - as noted - a
3-way fight is not workable to organise.

I'm away this weekend - although I should be back sunday evening. With any luck I can pass you details on your vict....err....opponents..and you can get going.

Question, another strategic target that is listed in the rules as required for all campaigns is the 'Trade Route'. Should we be playing without one?

That was explained a page or two back. In a nutshell, this system is uninhabited, a total backwater, previously ignored by all the younger races. It has a jump gate only by virtue of the attention of some long-vanished race, who also left the space dock and scrapyard we see here now.

The system is so out of the way, no trade passes through at all, hence no trade route strategic target.

*EDIT*

I'm in agreement with our esteemed gamemaster. Loaning of assets to allied players will be ok but no three or four way battles. I can think of a few ships I'd like to borrow from the other players...

Hold it - for the Minbari fleet what happens if the PL rolled doesn't allow for a War level choice?

As for 'sharing' ships...this seems odd to me...are we really doing this?

TRANSMISSION BEGINS

This is Warleader G'ral of the Narn Regime, the Narn have first claim on this system. All other races would be wise to respect this claim. If any associated races wish to honor their membership in the Interstellar Alliance they will relinquish all claim to this system, or assist the Narn in removing those that will not abide by this claim.

The Narn will not fire on Alliance races unless fired upon, but do not think we will hesitate to destroy anyone showing hostile action towards our vessels.

Warleader G'Ral Out

TRANSMISSION BEGINS

This is the minbari federation to the narn leader g'ral this system belongs to the new centari minbari alliance stand down and go home.

If you do not meet with this demand any narn vessel seen with in this system will be fired on with out warning

Yes, Prelude, we're really sharing ships. Really. It's going to make for some interesting battles, I believe, but I can't see any reason not to do it. Just remember that each ship on your list can only fight one battle a turn, so if you loan it to an ally it's had its outing for that turn.

Oh, and I've formed an alliance with the Minbari Federation fleet in this system. Never saw that one coming, did you? So, to that end, the Centauri Royal Navy and Minbari Warrior Caste require all military forces in this system to stand down and leave the system within one standard week. Failure to do so will result in your vessels being fired upon. That is all.
