Build two Narn Variantes

old Narn ships should have AP all around and the new never have?
I can´t estimate...

Old Narn/Centauri Hulls may be in the first years but later?

It looks like 2 normal size Var'Nics and a center of the normal size Thentus.

Yeaah.. I was afraid of that.. :(

So, it's really U$30 apiece then? It looks smaller than a T'loth..

Well, if I remember right, A Var'nic is smaller than a T'rakk. Cheaper, pretty easy and probably better to build the "pods" out of plasticard. But then I hate the Varnic mini & only beceause of its size in comparison.

Stlll it was even worse when it was battle level.

To be honest, it's not the Varnics I dislike. It's that the Thentus centerpiece looks rather spindly.. I wonder if a Rongoth's would work better.. :?

ok update
The Rothan and Tentus got light Ion Cannons, rebuild from Centauri weapons.
Are the Narn (HVY) Plasma cannons rebuild Centauri Mattercannons? Both got AP,DD?
Why only one Fighter Flight? The Ship have one seperate Hangar at both sides? - Carrier 2?

Ion Torpedo.................F.......30..............4 Precise, Super AP (SL?)
Heavy Plasma Cannon..F.......20..............8 AP, Double Damage
Light Ion Cannon..........F.......8..............10 Twin-Linked
Light Ion Cannon.........P........8.............. 8 Twin-Linked
Light Ion Cannon.........S........8.............. 8 Twin-Linked
Light Plasma Cannon....A........8...............6 AP

Have anyone in the past build Centauri Vorchan, Alltarian or Primus hulls as first Narn ships?
ISD -2220?
Weapons fires only on +4 all time; CQ -1; All free CQC only on 4+ (All Power..., All Stop ....)

I wouldn't give it the Carrier trait. Cruisers with multiple fighter flights generally don't have it (a pity, since the job of the Nova in my AoL fleet is basically a carrier :)), and besides even the genuine carrier version of the T'Loth doesn't have the Carrier trait.

Definitely try using an Altarian as a centre piece. According to P&P, that's exactly what the Narn did when they created the Rothan, that ship's centre being a heavily reworked Altarian. The Narns apparently got hold of a lot of them. So if you can, get an Altarian and pretend you're a Narn shipbuilder with a welding tool. :)

A heavily modified Altarian won't need those CQ penalties, but you could perhaps expand your anti-Dilgar fleet with some small, unmodified Centauri ships to which those penalties apply as the Narn struggle with the Centauri controls. The Centauri probably wouldn't have left a Primus lying around for the Narns to loot, but the Vorchan and Kutai are prime candidates.

If you do want to play with a Primus hull, apparently there's an unarmed liner variant. Referred to in B5 Scrolls as the Primus-P Luxury Liner, it was apparently the first Primus to appear on screen (in "The Coming of Shadows"), although the armed version got most of the subsequent screen time. Assume Narn raiders got hold of one of these, give it Narn weapons, and paint it accordingly. :)

From a stat viewpoint then Narn Vorchans have appeared in couple of locations, Hiff did a CTA first edition fan PDf entitled "Dawn of Retribution: Rise of the Narn Regime" (can e-mail a copy if you PM me with your e-mail adress) there was I think also a version in an old S&P but don't remember which one.

Abandoned Altarian makes sense but I agree with Adrian H, dont believe Centauri would have left any Primus' lying around, but hey your game your rules and guess the Narn would probably have captured at least one Primus hull more or less intact through the years.

In conversion terms, only made Narn Vorchans myself and then only as paint jobs.

Try this:

G'Stiswons: Captured, armed liner (Primus variant): Raid
Troops: 4
In Service: 2215+
Speed: 6
Turns: 1/45
Hull: 6
Craft: 2 Frazi
Damage: 52/12
Crew: 65/15
Special rules: Antifighter 1, Jump Engine, Lumbering, Unique
Weapons: Type / Range / Arc / AD / Special
Heavy Plasma Cannon / 12 / F / 6AD / AP Double Damage
Light Ion Cannon / 8 / F / 8AD / Twin-linked
Light Ion Cannon / 8 / A / 4AD / Twin-linked
Light Ion Cannon / 8 / P / 6AD / Twin-linked
Light Ion Cannon / 8 / S / 6AD / Twin-linked

When the Narn hijacked the liner Luxus in 2196, the Centauri were able to bargain for the release of the passengers and crew, including the son of Lord Kalan, in exchange for a large shipment of food and medical supplies. The Narn kept the ship, though, and spent many years examining its systems. Though unable to get the drives fully operational, they were able to bring the ship to a useful state, replacing its passenger shuttles with fighters and giving it the same sort of weapons with which they were already equipping their Rothan class destroyers.

Looks pretty good - nice fluff - There is a narn Vorchan in my Dilgar war pack (they are fairly battered and unrelaible, serving in 2nd line units)

The Liner IIRC was the Emperors transport - I stated it up as the Lion's Lair.

all my new ships for the narn (i have others for other races) are here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ytjzjzkmdzt

some of the ships were models made by kickaha but if you want the kin'toth could always use a maximus hull and the bri'tan could be a captured vorchan.
the n'toth is made by slicing the smaller part from 2 var'nics (halfway through the cylindrical part) and then putting the 2 longer sections together. seethe earth/centauri war pack for a counter which will also give you the idea.

of course a quick not to explain that dawn of retribution is 1st ed, so all ships would need a small tweak to 2nd ed rules. and whilst I did the doc, I must stress, Morgoth did most of the ship stats ;-)

^oh, so many inspirations....
I think I build a early Years Narn Force, dated from 2205?? - 2232.

The Loot-Primus I like verry mutch, only the Frazi I will change to Gorith.

At the Vorchan the "All Time Weapons on 4+" I think work better with 3+ otherwise the crit has no effect and so bad is no Crew either not.

ah ha, yes I do! in an e-mail from charles. PM me your e-mail, i can have it to you quicker than Kickaha

The Primus model is here frome IWM. (the last they have sold).
What should I do with the weapon turrets? Put it on the looted Primus or better not and build without?

As M1ndr1d3rs reminded me on a pm the other day the IWM remastered Primus has different, (shorter barrelled) turrets than the Mongoose primus/octurion/vorchan/dargan/altarian so you could get away with just adding the turrets as Narn modified guns.

Besides if you want to sell her some time in the future better to go with all of the IWM parts.

It's supposed to look like a liner. ;)

If you go to B5 Scrolls, wait for it to load fully, then click on Ships -> Centauri -> Primus-P (the one in the middle of the row of Centauri ships, not the one at the left end which is the warship), you may see that there are some other structures in place of the weapons. There are flat cone shapes where the aft turrets would be and domes in place of the upper forward turrets, plus one more dome right over the launch bay.

Ideally you would want to put Narn weapons on the ship, but Narn weapons seem to be either invisibly small or internally mounted; Narn ships do not have visible turrets. Maybe scratch-build something on the bow, where a regular Primus has the long spikes for the main weapons, to represent the heavy plasma cannon.

If you are planning on selling the model later, don't bother with the cones and domes; you could assume that they were for passenger comfort and removed by the Narn as part of the conversion. And keep any parts you don't use, e.g. turrets or the bow spikes, somewhere safe. ;)

Yeah just like my original Ragnar Blackmane and Bjorn the Fellhanded minis "safely" stored several ago, (liked the minis but did not want to spare the cash at the time for a Space Wolves Army). Searched my loft, last night, found the sealed box and also found the banner poles missing for both.

Time & far too many minis, makes parts just disappear.
