Bric-a Brac of the Third Imperium

Rainbow dropslets -

A flower used in several starports along and near to the K'kree 2000 worlds sector of space to reduce and stop violent reactions from K'kree when they meet a meat-eater.
The Rainbow droplets themselfs are the flower of the plant which gives off a swweet aroma that confuses a K'kree sense of smell, that can last for several hours .
The flower slowlly goes through the colours of the rainbow throughout the day with a ripple like effect on the surface of the flower.
The Rainbow droplets are well known among starship captains and crews from the K'kree borders of space for being notorious difficult to transport ,with many samples of the plant deteriorating nad dying in the holds of starships during the voyage.
many of the starports located along and near too the k'kree borders have the plant throughout their complex, along with many hotels, restuarants meeting places where trade is conducted with the k'kee.

For a people who take their manicures very seriously.

Dewclaw Polish

Manufactured by a few firms on the edges of Hierate space, most makes of dewclaw polish are more than simple cosmetics. In addition to the normal coloured lacquers a human might recognise, they incorporate both a readily absorbed local anasthetic and several grades of abrasive nanoparticles. When used with a dry cloth, this allows the user to put a razor edge on a dewclaw in short order.

More expensive versions incorporate a second stage which deposits a synthetic metal-laced enamel coating on the newly sharpened claw to strengthen it and help retain the cutting edge.

Claw polishes are most regularly used by Ihatei trying to show off, but there is an increasing body of users amongst professional clan champions, where these are (generally) considered acceptible in a formal duel in a way augmentations would not be.

Invariably such polishes are coloured in a readily visible fashion (though not as garish as those favoured by the more immature Ihatei - a crisp plain grey is generally is favoured), since even so it would be dishonourable in the extreme were one to use a chemically sharpened and strengthened dewclaw in a duel without one's opponent being aware.

Sufficient polish to prepare one's claws for a duel or social event costs about Cr 300 and takes an hour or so to properly apply. This will make damage from the Dewclaws so treated partial AP for about a month, or until the first instance of repeated use. Enamel wax costs a further Cr 200, which will ensure that the claw remains sharp until a month's natural growth and wear sheds the coating.

The TAS guide to Local Delicacies of the Third Imperium

A small digital book for the seasoned traveller, Local Delicacies is sometimes a blessing and sometimes a curse, allowing the reader to quickly identify the origin and composition of some of Charted Space's more...obscure...foodstuffs. In addition to giving the reader some idea of what animals and plants (and what part of said animals and plants) the traditional recipe is made from, the guide will inform the reader of any traditional allergy problems noted with the dish.

Be warned that there is a reason that many of the dishes within are not regional delicacies.

Nozho Music

A genre of pro-Imperium music popular in the Spinward Marches about 1083-1085. Nozho is a contraction of No Zhodani, and most of the lyrics were rather simple, denigrating the Zhodani and Vargr or exalting the Imperial armed forces. Very few Nozho musicians achieved any significant fame, but Chawmy Draff’s Draffketeers had 3 hit songs on multiple worlds as well as one megahit that got a bit of play as far away as Vincennes.
