Brakiri Syndicracy Fleet

Hi there. This is my first post.

Just started with B5ACtA, and I have decided to paint and game with a Brakiri fleet. I chose this fleet mostly due to it being one of the of the many nations in the League, as well as the design of their ships were rather neat in concept and design.

Thus, I would love to gain any bit of knowledge I can regarding the gameplay of the Brakiri fleet.

> Ship selection?
> Overall strategy(ies)?
> Tactics?
> What 'works and what doesnt?'

Anything would be appreciated.

Please feel free to chime in and add your thougths to this thread.

Hmmm, well, I could write a multi-page tactical manual, but I'll try and keep things brief.

Overall the Braikiri are the league fleet with the most variety of ships available barring the big four, (narn, minbari, centauri, earth.) They also have a very good variety of ship-types, so it's easy to either vary your playing style, or play a specific type of fleet.

On average, Braikiri fleets are generally sturdy, up-gunned, and less maneuverable then other fleets. They usually either have good defenses, or tough hulls, and in some cases, both, their overall firepower usually is moderate amounts of a high-powered main weapon, with lots of dice in secondaries.

Well, I could go on for page after page after page on the individual ships in the braikiri fleet, since there really are no bad ships that I can think of in the entire fleet, but it really depends on what you're looking to do. Since Braikiri have close-range pounders, long range snipers/bombardment ships and even a few faster supportships, they also have a war, a raid and a skirmish level carrier ship that are all rock hard and have solid secondary weapons.

Overall, I've found that the braikiri can do well with almost any tactics, but they seem to be very very solid at mid-range pounding. My current favorite trick is to take a Brokados fleet carrier supporting two or three other ships by staying close to them and running all the ship's falkosi as interceptors. Overall you can really increase the durability of your own vessels that way, and the brokados by itself is a solid, if undergunned raid ship. It does have 50 damage/crew at that level though with an interceptor so it can take a beating while supporting the other ships that now have interceptors that you can recover on a 4+.

My current favorite ships in this fleet are:

The Brivoki
The Haltona
The Brokados
The Kaliva or Avioki in equal measure, depending on the scenario or fleet I'm facing.

I would go on into more detail, but that would threaten to turn this into an article, rather then a reply. If people want me to go on further though, I would be very happy to do so.

LaranosTZ,

Much thanks for the quick reply to the original post.
The general 'in-a-nutshell' overview is definitely what I was aiming for.

Laranos, when you do have the time (an patience), I would love to read more info concerning the Brakiri fleet. Again, if you have the spare time. :?

As a sidenote, I plan to post pics of the ships as soon as I can, which should be this upcoming Wednesday... as for the finished product (assembled and painted etc) that will be a few months in the future.

Much appreciated.

:D

A quick question if I may-

Can anyone direct me to any given B5 episode in which a Brakiri being makes a physical appearance?

While I have watched several episodes, and have seen several shots of Brakiri ships/fighters, I do not believe that I have seen a Brakiri yet.

Much appreciated. :D

They look like this:

Episode 8 series 5 (The day of the dead) is the episode in which they buy part of B5 for a religious thing. So, you see them plenty in it.

There are lots of Brakiri in that episode, yes. But if you try to follow the plot without having watched the previous 4 seasons, you'll spend most of it ghoing "who's that?"

That's mainly because it was written by Neil Gaiman.

Another question-

Does Mongoose sell B5 season boxes???

I do realize that you can get them on the internet, from various sites, but does Mongoose extend a similar service?

Again, thanks.

they did for a while sell starship troopers DVD's. For B5 you want to look for the big all seasons box, i saw it recently for £69.99, but damnit i forget where!

Play and Amazon are doing the season boxes for about 15 quid a pop at the moment but the 'big box 'o B5' for 70 quid is a hell of a bargain and if Hiff can find the link to said site, I'd seriously recommend checking it out if you dont own any of the boxes already (hell its still worth it even if you DO own one or two of the seasons :D)
