Again, with special thanks to Bruce Mason, we have just posted the entire Blood of Orlanth epic, fully updated for the RuneQuest II rules, for free download on our site. You can grab a copy now at;

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/home/detail.php?qsID=1777

It starts as a journey down the Solthi river in search of a thief. Orlanthi barbarians, imperialistic Wyrmfriends, and even the mysterious and power-hungry sorcerers of the God Learner empire clash in their search for a mystic artifact, and the Player Characters are thrust into the middle of a sudden and ferocius war.

The Legend of Orlanth the Martyr, almost completely forgotten, offers a pivotal stepping stone between the myths of men and the myths of dragons. To the Orlanthi it is holy. To the empire of Wyrm's Friends it is blasphemous. To the God Learners it is power. Each faction struggles for the ultimate prize: the Blood of Orlanth.

Suitable for Player Characters of any faction, Blood of Orlanth immerses players in the unique world of Glorantha. This adventure shows off everything that makes Glorantha great, culminating in a full HeroQuest.

A man fights for his home. A dragon fights with fire. A sorcerer does not fight, but poisons with lies and spells. How will you fight for the Blood of Orlanth?

Many thanks! I'd wanted to have a go at this, but never found the time to update it all. A lovely surprise for a Wednesday morning.

Excellent! I picked up a copy of this the other day (discounted, because it was bound with the cover of the Aldryami book, and the consensus in the shop was that a properly bound Mongoose publication of that era is worth more as a collectable than a mis-bound one), but I'm looking forward to having an updated PDF to browse on my iPad as well!

Happy to answer any questions and also thanks to Mongoose for making the maps available too.

Although this was an extensive overhaul, the intent was not to rewrite the campaign but to update the mechanics, replace all references to physical runes with something else and to make changes where the original text didn't fit well with the second edition Gloranthan products. That includes things like Zistorite characters, some issues around use of fire by trolls and cult descriptions. There are, however, no new NPCs or adventure elements* nor has anything been omitted from the original.

The big change in the NPCs is that they are now absolute. This means that if someone is a magus or rune lord equivalent, their stats reflect that. Consequently some NPCs are a lot more dangerous than previously. Also RQII tends to generate more skilled characters so NPCs are adjusted accordingly. To borrow a phrase, the NPCs eat their own dog meat. Which means that if a character is thought to be equivalent to a Master level PC then you can pretty much generate it as a Master level beginning character. That has one other impact: characteristics are now on a line with equivalent PCs. A Master level human NPC will in most cases have characteristics that add up to somewhere near 90.

*Ok, there is one element added. From talking with Gareth Hanrahan, the element is something that was implicit in the original but never made it into the final product.

Thanks for this.

Funnily enough I just bought the PDF for this and the hardcopy a week or two before that. I will likely be running it using MRQ1 however as I never got MRQII, so my money wasn't wasted, still if I ever want to run it again using MRQII or Legend this will be useful.

@Deleriad - What is the one element added that was implicit in the original but never made it into the final product? That might be useful for me to include when I run teh MRQ1 version.

Well seeing as the download is free and you have the original as well you should be able to spot the additional section with a little detective work. It's not an awfully big section but it is there...

Plus it would count as a spoiler (for both the original and 2nd edition text).

As neither PDF has bookmarks spottting an extra section may not be quite as easy, any chance you could PM me the name of the section please? Thanks!

PM sent by special PMpost.

Excellent! Many thanks for that!!!! :o

BTW, I'm having problems seeing the maps in the zip file. Has anyone else the same problem?

One of my favourite RQ supplements! Probably worth pointing out that my adventure "The Initiation" in Signs & Portents #89 was specifically written as a prologue to this campaign if you're running it from the Orlanthi point of view.

Excellent job, the maps look great as well! I'm playing 3rd age but I'm gonna turn this into a nice heroquest! Well, most of the work has already been done! Thank you.
