I've seen the CGI series and I can't tell the difference. I must have failed my SICON target recognition training.

What is the actual difference?

I know that MI can tell the difference just by doing a heat scan, but I see no reason not to use the models interchangably as long as you let your opponent know in advance what the heat scan shows.

Ok, the models are the same size/use as the blisters in the CGI series. BUT they do not even come close to the Blasters in the CGI.

The Blasters where deployed on thier own (blasters only), in a group, and thier heat was so intense that it formed a missile shield around them. As such, they were immune to all but ground attack. Thier weapon was so hot that it turned the ground into glass and had a range that the troopers needed portable heat shields to get close enough to place a bomb underneth them. The Blasters where big, as big as a plasma with a trooper able to standup beneath them. They also had an achielies heal, if you took one out, the resultant blast took the rest.....

The ones in the game are nothing like the ones in the cgi (although the cgi blasters do look just like big blister bugs, with the same colouring)

We where working out a cgi blaster stat - almost identicle to the plasma, but direct fire only and 18" alert status attacking anything that enters the area (except for other blasters).

Wow Hiromoon, your blister/blaster bugs look great, but I think the blasters look like blisters and the blisters look like blasters. :?:
Good job though! :D

I'll accept a model as either but for fielding purposes:
Blasters
I'll take 'Fries instead of Blisters (when possible.)

Both have their uses - the choice of Blister over Blaster (or vice versa) really depends on what kind of opposition you expect to encounter. If your opponent likes to field mainly standard MI troopers (or even better, LAMI), the Blaster is your weapon of choice. Extra range, plus it nullifies both cover and dodge saves.

If you expect to face a lot of heavy metal, you're better off with the Blister bug. The Blaster's D6+1 attack will only hit an Ape suit on a roll of 6, and won't even scratch the paint of a CHAS. This is why my current force fields 2 units of Blisters and only 1 unit of Blasters.
