Blake's 7 Liberator

That, and the rules don't really allow for three spinal mounts... :)

Say it is really one mount with three emitters, or just make sure you have enough dtonnage and put in three powerplants or a lot of batteries. After all, how many times were the crew in danger of running down the power cells during a battle?

Personally, I think derailing the thread onto a Servalan discussion is more fun... *weg*

I'm sure I have a chart somewhere with the Liberator on it, all ships scaled to each other (Super Star Destroyer is huge!).

Did you see Commandant Grayza in the later Farscape episodes, if she wasn't a Servalan tribute I don't know what is.
I'm glad somebody else noticed that, I thought I might have been having a fanboy reaction!

Yup, spotted that too. 'Commissioner Sleer' had a cameo in my last game...

Based on the hatch seen in the CGI prefix on the DVD the central hull could be anywhere between 30 and 100m in diameter.

Scorpio, which was much smaller, maybe had 5 or 6 decks, based on the ep where the engine expert boosts the stardrive.

Would a plasma bolt equate to a fusion gun?

Fun though they are, I wouldn't put too much faith in the scale of ships from the DVD CGI intros. The size difference between pursuit ships and the Liberator is completely off when compared to the near-collision (in Duel, I think) between the Liberator and Travis's pursuit ship. Mind you, I think the CGI got closer to the spirit IMO - the on-screen size of the pursuit ship would have been purely down to whatever size the models happened to be ...

When it comes down to it, we're talking about no-scale models of made-up spaceships here, so there's a lot of leeway for interpretation. I'd personally still go with the London - Liberator comparison. It seems to me that was the only attempt to provide some scale during the whole show.

I agree, actually, this is what I'd try and base it on but I will still try and find the JPEG image I have of the chart with all the spacecraft on it (scaled).

Hey I,m happy to go with Traveller-61s 1000ft. Its just calculating the volume of quite a unique shape. I can't think of a better way than measuring the displacement of a model?

And what's all this rubbish about Servalan.

Soolin and Jenna were much better lookin.

If you abstract it to a collection of cylinders, then a reasonable estimate of volume could be made quite readily.

Yep, reckon that is your best bet
and it owuld be a reasonable size for the liberator too

I agree with the folks earlier though, the Horizon blueprints are probably your best bet

Did the Liberator even have that much living space in it? There was the bridge (complete with couch!), the teleport room... presumably some staterooms and cargo space... but it didn't really look to me as if there was much more living space (corridors, rooms, etc) than contained within a Free Trader or Scout.

And it seems to me that the three pods weren't habitable - maybe there was an access shaft going to them through the support linking them to the central cylinder, but that'd be about it (this is just based on memories of how the Liberator broke up when it was destroyed though)

EDIT: That said, the wiki page describes large cargo and hangar bays, so maybe I'm completely wrong ;)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberator_(Blake's_7)

You'll have to copy/paste the link into your browser, you can't click on it because the apostrophe in the "Blake's 7" screws up the direct link.

The Bridge had a weird arrangement, if I recall. It was more like a university lecture theatre or auditorium, all the bridge positions in tiered rows facing the same direction, with Zen speaking out of that big wall panel on the left side (camera right!).

The Liberator certainly had hanger bays (seen in Time Squad) and cargo holds (where Avon found all the loot). According to the Horizon blueprints all the habitable area was contained in a single deck in the centre of the main body of the ship. The three pods were totally given over to the weapons.

It has been a long time since I looked at them but I remember at least 6 cabins, a teleport room, medbay, computer control room, sub-control rooms and of course the bridge.

I think you can only get them direct from Horizon the Blake's 7 appreciation society

well worth it though, mine are around somewhere

Yep, as far as I know Horizon is the only place to get them; and I'll echo Alan Hume - they are well worth it. As well as the Liberator you get some of the weapons, Scorpio, Federation uniforms and more as well.
Now I just wish I could remember where I put mine

I found this at Starship Modeler

http://www.starshipmodeler.com/NEWS_0405_liberatorKitparts.jpg

It looks like you could derive dimensions/ volume for it.

Or, contact the modeler, ask him to dip it in water

There must have been a fair bit of 'live' volume on the Liberator, because there were lots of corridors and people were able to hide and get up to no good without other people being able to find them. I always put the limited number of locations shown down to the limited space and budget for sets rather than a true indication of the contents of the interior.

(Image from Betty Ragan's website) I always thought the upper forward bit on the London was one deck - let's say 3m. That makes the whole ship about 60m long. IMO.

(Image from Louise and Simon's Blakes 7 website) Oh, boy! that makes the Liberator 780m long (not counting the antenna on the nose)! That's a big ship, there. Anyway, I need to look at some more London shots from different angles to be more confident about the size, but the relationship is basically 13 Londons to one Liberator.
