Blake's 7 Liberator

Is there anybody out there who has translated the Liberator into Traveller. It's been around for over 30 years so someone must have had a go?

I'm looking to run a Blake's 7 styled game. So if anybody would like to share any experiences, ship stats or anything it would be much appreciated. :wink:
 
Do you have the B7 RPG? It was a fan effort that is off the B7 appreciation society... This might be a good place to start. Hopefully, Cubicle 7 could get the reprint rights and update things and get it out here.

fan site on the web and contact Diane she shouldbe able to sort you out with a copy (I think they still have it up for sale on the merchandise page)

Are you implying that there are people here who are not fans of B7? If so, I'm taking names! :evil:

The tricky bit about translating the Liberator into MGT would be the size. The only real comparison we have is the scene where the London is parked next to it (and boy does it look tiny). You could probably scale the London based on visible doors and windows, and then work out the size of the Liberator from that screenshot. But be prepared for a really, really big ship with the Liberator!
 
Size of Liberator = 1000ft approx.
Not official of course but I calculated it based on the width of the tunnel connecting the London to the Liberator in the episode Spacefall :D

Focus Chaps. We can't have Servalan divert us away from our main objective.

Now thanks to Traveller-61 we know it's 1000 feet long (or 300m). So if someone with a model Liberator were to place it in a cup of water and tell us how many grams of water it displaces (and the length of the model) whe'd be able to scale up and find the volume. Eureka!

The holy grail is within our grasp :shock:
 
well, someone should still have one of those old Corgi minis hopefully 8) :D

did you guys ever check out the Blake's 7 technical Manuals that Horizon produce, I cant find mine or I would look and see if it hade any details :cry:

It seems the actress Rebecca Riggs was a fan...

This is a disaster!!! :shock: That is (was) one of the best resources on the net for ships.

As for the Corgi Liberator - careful using it for dimensions / volume as it is not that accurate (in fact when I asked Matt from BBC effects how to improve it his answer was simple: don't bother!); you would do better to find the Comet Miniatures plastic model. Or, as has been suggested, the Horizon blueprints.

And I'm pretty sure that I have all of the above somewhere....

Meh, Farscape got old about four episodes in, in my opinion, so no I saw nothing later than about the first series, I think.

I do chat with a wonderful woman (who's not especially old, either) who admires Servalan and we occasionally jokingly address each other, in email, as Supreme Commander Servalan and Space Commander Travis, respectively. ;¬)

Nice to know it's not all 'fanboys', eh?
 
The Horizon B7 RPG was realy just intended for freeform fast play with a healthy dose of humour, it had rules the the scenery wobbling. It won't help you if you're trying to do a 'serious' game.

The technology assumptions for Traveller could probably be adjusted to handle most of the B7 universe, but not the Liberator. If you look at the kinds of decisions the crew have to make and the tactical situations they get into, something like the orriginal Full Thrust game is probably more appropriate.

The rest of MG Traveller is a good fit though, in particular Traveller chargen is great for creating the kinds of colourful characters with cool back stories that abounded in B7.

Well I only know of Servalan from the repeats, far too young to remember it from first time round, but my Dad agreed with the similarity as well.
