Beyond A Call to Arms

well, we have been through speculation before.

the problem with most settings, SST, Farscape, SAAB, BSG is the small number of fleets, the flipside, the big fleet potential, eg Startrek, Stargate, is that these are likely to have rather expensive licences, and as such could be more of a gamble, though you would have a market for them.

Personally would love a stargate game, and it would lend itself quite well to CTA rules,

A little bonus for still supporting the game until the end.

D.

Hey I am sure here are a lot of people, like me, who will be playing/supporting B5 CTA beyond its end who couldn't make the weekend.

no no no no I'm sick of Star trek, so many better shows, books, game settings have been and been axed, and startrek with it's terrible storylines and weak background goes on, aaarrrgggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

To each their own. I think you are wrong on all counts, barring Voyager and that horrible Enterprise show. The original series, TNG, and even DS9 to a certain extent were outstanding. BSG is nothing but a social commentary on mutual destruction IYAM.

Cheers, Gary

How long before the official announcement is made? Is it possible maybe to give us a clue? ;)

Star Trek seems like a safe bet to me given the movie just came out and there are likely to be more of them.

I guess an outside chance though might be something related to the revamp of Blake's 7 being cooked up by The Sci-Fi Channel in the US?

If Mongoose left ships in the case over the weekend (as they did) then its their own fault for leaving them there for people to see.

Personally I am not interested in this new lisence if it is what people have speculated it is.

Stargate all the way! So many races, so many ship types and lots of background info! Also a company in the UK already sells 25mm stargate minis so the license is affordable as I have not seen them making huge sakes but they are still producing them.

So, can no-one say what ships they saw? Surely it cant be that much of a secret if they had them publicly viewable!

So come one, what did everyone see?

people like power my friend, they like to be able to say, i know something you don't know.
Incidentally, I wasn't there, so i didn't see anything.

I saw a load of Star Trek minis.
And a Mass Effect poster.
But there was no little notice saying "these are for the new CTA game"...

bok, bok, bok... thats my head on the desk ;-)

which though means nothing, I have a picture of Faith from Buffy at home, but I'm not seeing her. Maybe Matt just likes Star Trek.

A size comparison chart like this one?
Well it apparently didn't do much good. The Borg and Kazon were totally out of scale in that mini range!

Mass effect.....I never thought of that one. WOuld be curious to see if that was the route they where going to take. Considering Mass Effect didn't exactly forcus on starship combat and the closest you ever got to starship combat was the cut scenes at the end. At least there would be a rich source of material to base a new ruleset/miniatures range from.

Star Trek would be suprising though. Considering there is a few official rulesets out there already along with a, albeit plastic, miniatures range.

metal minis range for the one I've played, federation commander was it, took 2 hours for a ship to ship combat, and neither ship was dead!

Worth pointing out that we have had both Trek and Star Wars adaptations of the CTA rules running for some time :)
