Best Carry cases for Call to Arms:Star Fleet?

As I have recently filled up my gw cases (one small and one large) I would have to take stuff out to put my ships in, but I don't want to as I don't think the foam there would be friendly to the Nacelles (it hasn't been to the warphunter's fins or Wraithlord's weapons :( ).
I have decided I shall buy a new case, one that shall either be purely for my Star Fleet ships, for Both my Star Fleet and my BattleFleet Gothic ones, or both fleets and a small amount of man models (proberbly infinity or a tiny 40k army).
I've never bought a non GW case before, so advice on various manufacturers/websites ect will be helpfull.

I'm using the old gw double sided cases with the 'egg box' foam for mine. You can fit loads of ships in them and they hold quite well. You could try looking for cases with this kind of foam.

As a temporary expedient, I used bubble wrap. I put the mini on it's stand in the center of a 2x1' piece, and folded upwards, tucking the ends underneath the mini. I then put it in a cardboard box, and kept on going with more...if you get enough of them in there, they stay put.

But I'd like to find an easy way to make a wood box with dividers so I can make compartments sized for Frigates/small ships and Cruiser and up ships.

Not going to be an easy task.

At least for US based folks, I'm very happy with my Sabol cases.

Which cases and foam configuration are you using?

I use the platoon case and the smallest tray height except for the very largest ships (DN, c-8) in which circumstance I use the next size up. I find one case can handle two small or one good sized fleet.

Perhaps if I was the artist that some of the people are around here I would worry more about them, but after getting the sticker shock that the cases would cost more than the mini's I was happy using a tomato box, especially since most of my ships are resin. I suppose if you traveled long distances with them though it makes sense.

I would rather buy more ships to let others use than pay hundreds for a case, but that's me.

Another option:
I've just bought a 4L Really Useful Box for £5 from Staples. I plan to pad it out with foam, and it should easily be able to hold a decent sized fleet for transport.

Those Sabol cases are much more reasonably priced than the Battle Foam gear I was looking at, but when you add the pluck foam it still is not cheap, especially when you have 3 full fleets and counting.

I'm no Battlefoam fan primarily due to price. Several of the Sabol cases are shown with the price of the inserts included and given that you can use the smallest inserts for all but the biggest models, 2 fleets in a platoon case should work unless your volumes are greater than say 3 fleet boxes per fleet.

Matt at Sabol will work with you on inserts for whatever sizes best suit you.
