Beating The Beam Team...

Using 2 Tertius was probably not that smart either, always better of with more ships, gives you more protection from crits. Another 2 Sulusts instead would be better. Myself i would went vs EA
1 Primus
3 Sulusts
3 Corvans
Think thats right 3 battle pt, 1 raid 3 patrol.
It also looks cool on the board.

Wow! I thought these little guys were regarded as useless. I don't see them much in people's fleets.

I'm getting the distinct impression that these little bugers are WELL worth their points. Is this kind of activity unusual?

Oh far from useless :) Ineed they are one of the few patrol level ships that actually have reasonable weaponry. The thing with them is they die really really fast if the enemy decides to go for them! The trick though is that most people dont consider them worth firing at for ages and let them get away with running around being good little initiative sinks :P

As for maneuver to shield them, it is, in my opinion a distinctly underused tactic that can be ramarkably effective if used well as seen above :) Its even more valuable when used to protect fragile high firepower ships from enies (best case in point I can think of is using a Drazi Warbird (hull 6 and built like a birck s**thouse) to screen a Solarhawk (made of tissuepaper but armed with a death star laser :P).

Another great trick is for Centauri to do the same thing but use Maximus to screen their big guns (the Maximus has decent weapons in its own right but it also has hull 6 and interceptors (indeed in B5 Wars the Maximus was specifically DESIGNED for this roll, with gaurdian arrays (interceptors that could fire to defend OTHER ships from incoming fire :D)

Exactly what i use my Maximus for, the more turns your primus is firing the more likely you are to win. Games that i've lost there has been a turn where my primus hasn't fired due poor tactics or good tactics by my opponent.
I hate those Drazi, my games are always close with them, too many hull 6 ships.
