Battlestar Galactica - ACTA - REDUX

you do realise that by using thier title "Battlestar Galactica" and thier Images and anything to do with BSG Its copyright infringement. Just trying to look out for you.

And you'd be DEAD WRONG.

It's trademark infringement, not copyright.

NB - I have no idea how balanced these are against any of the Battlestars so if you do use them in a game let me know how badly they got nobbled or if the were a touch too good.

Cylon War era Basestar (TOS)
During the Cylon War the Basestar was large, cumbersom, heavily armed and armoured and crewed by thousands of Centurions. There were no Hybrids to control the ship so in many regards it was much more like a Colonial ship of the line.

Assault Raider Flight (TOS)
The Cylon fighter of choice during the war. Crewed by 3 Centurions and with space to carry more this fighter made a gret all round fight and assault ship. Although the command structure on board (relaying commands verbally between Command Centurion and the Gunner or Pilot) meant that its reactions could be a little slow.

Galactica Era Basestar
The new design of Basestar was run by a Hybrid, a single mind designed to control the ships every function. Designed more as a carrier than a brawler the new Basestar has very thin armour and is not quite as resistant as its previous incarnation.

Hope it comes back so I can see the new version!

has anyone bought any of those miniatures? if so what is the scale between battlestar/baseship and viper/raider like?

The Ravenstar Minis are a bit larger then the ones from Studio Bergstrom.

A Ravenstar Valkyrie is roughly the Size of Bergstroms Galactica.

Although Ravenstar has FINALLY sculpted some NU basestars and support ships...

So this is the redux...

Something urged me to act upon all the the ponderings I had been pondering over the last few months. The release of BSG:Razor with Adama's flashbacks made me realize that I could include all the old style Cylon ships in the games and expand the rules to cover the first Cylon war as well.

I wanted to include a few ideas from Victory at Sea, specifically the "roll to hit". I have also taken the oppertunity to reduce the size of the ships. I believe before I aimed to big and as a result the designs became unwieldy and hard to balance. I also took the oppertunity to remove the fiddly rules regarding Nukes and the Raider waves idea has also been dropped.

So far I have the entire Colonial fleet statted up as well as the basic game rules.

Download them here.

Counter sets can be downloaded here although they do not include all the ships...

I am still working on the Cylons stats although be warned their fleet list will not be as big as the Colonial one.

If you want to see what each ship looks like just take a look at eth Ravenstar website.

ALL feeback and comments will be appreciated and pondered and then quite possible acted upon. Please report anything that looks out of place with the ship stats... I know there is plenty to address there balance wise.

[EDIT] I am already aware that 2 of the modifiers on page 4 are the wrong way around...

Wow Love this.
got some had some battlestar stuff I came up with love to give it to ya to see what ya think?

Love to see what ideas you got for the Blackbird or Stealthstars

i'm pretty much looking for the biggest galactica and basestar and smallest raiders and vipers/raptors so that me and Mrs Majik can do the battles from the show, we'll add stuff later.

I would also suggest the fighters from Ravenstar as they are the best I have seen around and the smallest. Also if you want super big Peggy and Galactica models there are some larger resing modeller's kits about. But the biggest "wargamer" models I have found are from Ravenstar.

Cool, the small one to the left look like the Cygnus Firestars. Are the ships already on sale?

This is way cool, and very encouraging. I just started playing Victory at Sea, and when I read that it was based of ACTA (which I never tried), I looked into it. I thought that although B5 was neat, it wasn't quite my thing. I said to myself "Tom (that's what I call myself on the occasions I need to have interpersonal disscussions), this would be awesome for Star Wars and BSG! Luckily I did some research before trying to bash the rules myself. This looks like excellent work, and I can't wait to try it. I think I'm going to order some vipers and raiders from Ravenstar. It occured to me that the die cast BSG models should work nicely (at least for Galactica and Pegasus). They are about 3" long, if I remember correctly, and only cost about $7. I can't remember if they did a basestar, but the viper is sitting on my desk staring at me right now (unfortunately a bit big though).

I combined your quoted stats for the vipers and cylons in with the rest, but is there any chance you've gotten to add them in to your final copy yet? I might be willing to help out if you can send me the background you used for the original copy.
