I'm going to (finally) start running this on Friday. I'm feeling a bit rushed and underprepared on it though, haven't even read the last chapter yet.
SO---
1) specific question: is there any good reason I can't run the three scenarios in the first chapter one after the other (I was thinking coffee, bonds, festival)? I don't want to waste any...

2) any general advice/pitfalls anyone else has found.

Cheers judges

Well, I've not had a thorough read of Bad Moon Rising yet, but here's the main thing that struck me in the Dredd I've run so far:

Know the equipment, and make sure the players have a list of the equipment's capabilities and associated rules, if you have time. Bike, belt, helmet, lawgiver - there are lots of little details that really make a difference, and will almost certainly be well used.

Also, if they're new to Traveller, let the players have a good grasp of injury effects, and when they kick in. Not just Seious Wounds and Unconcious, but the reduction of DMs as stats go down. And the cover rules, too...

Good luck!

I've had a very enjoyable time. Last night two cadets took out a Hondo City clan's Rocket Ronin in the ruins of Chattanooga...

Hirch,
1) In my campaign I had luxury of six players at start. After the initial encounter two teams of two were assigned to the two investigations whilst the remaining two went to the Festival.
The two investigative squads pulled some arrest duties that day.
Later the two investagative squads pulled part of their shifts at the festival as well.
2) There are several contradictory dates and also a few names in the text. Rather than potentially give too much away on an open forum I'm quite happy to email you my erratta sheet if you( or any one else who wants a copy ) can give me a home e-mail address.
Happy Judging,
John

Thanks very much for your replies guys.
Players are not new to traveller (by about 30 years  ) but have only played one very short JD scenario.
I will have three players.
I'm just not sure how to run it, can you see any logistical/plot problems with running those three in the order I mentioned so they can all be at all of them? Or maybe it would be better f they wrere all in different places - would ensure they had something to do?

I would be very grateful for that errata sheet - PM sent with email addy. I've already picked up a luigi/pauley problem in the accountency dept - but it is easy to fix.

Biggest pitfall for anyone new to JDRPG is most likely the sentencing of perps so it may be a good idea when you play to have a copy of the book open at the sentencing section or perhaps knock up a cheat sheet with the various codes and the sentence they carry.

Other than that BMR should run like a dream but its really best if you play the thing the way it was written as a long run affair not a quick over in a session or two adventure. Bad Moon Rising has all the hallmarks of a Judge Dredd epic in the same vein as The Day the Law Died and Necropolis so try if possible to go in for the long haul and please read the authors notes as they will be invaluable to you :)

Chapter 2 is named after a famous film. It is unclear to me how the judges are supposed to find the main charcter whose name is in that title chapter. seems there is only one (optional) lead which they may well not crack- am I missing something?

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
