Atlantean Race stats

L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter wrote the original short story, "The Thing in the Crypt".

I believe the DVD titles the chapter where Conan finds the tomb "The Tomb of Crom." I will check that in a few minutes when I get home from work.

The novelisation does not refer to the giant's race and I don't remember the movie giving him a race either. More than likely, he stumbled on the tomb of one of the Giant-Kings who ruled Stygia before the Stygians.

The soundtrack, by Basil P., titles the track where Conan enters the mound while fleeing from the wolves as "Atlantean Sword" which one could speculate the screenwriters intended to make the point that this tomb was dedicated to a possibly Atlantean or decendent thereof.

Conan stating Crom when the hand moves also leads some to think that Conan might even think the dead king is Crom. A couple buddies argued this to me but personally I think he is just swearing after getting the crap startled out of him.

Yeah, I just got home myself and saw your post and it is indeed called "The Tomb of Crom" (ch 5). Personally, I have to say "So what?" That Crom is some dead guy with a moldy sword under some rocks? I agree with your interpolation Zul Daire. And the movie is ridiculous, and I do love it anyways (I just don't ascribe it to the life of Conan, rather as a movie about a guy who happens to also be named Conan who swears "Crom" a lot).

Even so we all know that as great as the movie is (I think anyway) it is not canon however remember the short story that REH wrote (I forget the name) where Conan goes to the ruined city of Larsha and fights the giant skeletons...I beleive they had swords and Conan ends up in Zamora along with Subitai shortly there after so...

The story about Larsha was also a de Camp edit; he took an outline of a Howard story (very little written, with an outline I think) and he finished it himself, it's called "The Hall of the Dead" and he fought the skeletal things and the giant slug in this story, with Nestor the Gunderman.

Yup, the movie does title it as Tomb of Crom. Plus I just checked the Soundtrack and it is called "Atlantean Sword" So there you have it. Crom is an Atlantean Decendent  Just Kidding. I guess the screen writers were trying for a little best of both worlds.

By the way a little off topic but if you watch the DVD with Milus/ Arnold commentary it is hilarious. Man those guys were doing some serious partying while recording there commentary. We actually thought af a drinking game where you drink every time arnold says "Exactly" Great stuff.
