Anyone else growing disenchanted with the Conan comic?

Damn the log in process! Damn not checking the log me in automatically box! That's my post above! Strom the Damned!

Yeah! Damn, Strom! Get him! Burn! Buuuuurn!

At any rate, I bought issue 0 just because it was a quarter, but I am not going to bother to collect it any, the storyline, while decent fantasy, is a poor pastiche and I was looking forward to reading the actual "artist's conception" of some Conan stories by REH, since that is what they were selling. As it is, I'll probably keep borrowing from my friend, 'cuz they aren't good enough to keep me buying.

On a side note, does anyone else think that the "Wazzir" from issue 0 is actually Thoth-Amon? My roomie is convinced of it, but I am just not convinced one way or the other. I figured you would be the group to ask :)

Okay, thet's enough for now.
Later!

Iron chef if you are tired of comics maybe you should have a look at European comics. Here the approach is competely different. The stories are usually 50 pages long and published in hard cover books of larger size than usual US comics. Before that, they appear in magazines which are not devoted to a single comic. These magazines are about 100 pages and offer episodes of several comics each month, plus other stuff around the characters. Some are more for kids, some for older, some SF oriented, etc... The main differences are that art level is very high and very constant in time, and the stories are less super heros oriented. I could recommend you www.soleil-lesite.com , www.dupuis.com , www.humano.com as a start. Comics are considered a real art here (I mean by most of population, not just comics fan like we are) and even teached in art schools.

I was in Italy in '98 and picked up a fumetti (Dylan Dog I think it was called?) that was pretty cool looking... 'course I couldn't read it, but the pictures were pretty. It was a gift for my girlfriend at the time, who was a comic nut. I'm not going to order comics from europe, lol. I'll take your word for it.

The Wazir in issue 0 did remind me of Thoth-Amon, now that you mention it.

In fact I have the luck to teach in one of these schools. Not as comics teacher but as a CG teacher for video games and animation :D

Today's comics drive me nuts. It's mostly all flash in the pan gloss with little substance; I've looked.

LOL! It's the truth Chef! One gem amongst the copper pieces is Knights of the Dinner Table (KODT). My brother Dave sent me one for X-mas and I have forever been indebted to him for it! This is a comic/magazine that is very original and side-splittingly funny! Not only are there storylines that evolve but great articles on gaming and current gaming news. This is a great comic for everyone and I would be surprised if it was one you couldn't enjoy. It is b/w but never boring. The articles range from comic reviews to computer games, old game reviews, new dungeons, new NPC's for numerous genres and more! But the heart and soul of the comic (besides Jolly!) are the Knights! Give them a try, if you like them you can get it delivered to your door and save the drive time.

Also, they are always looking for submissions and/or guest articles or editorials and anyone who frequents this board knows you are one creative dude Chef! You have helped me out a lot! So, send away! Roll for Init!

Strom's right! KODT is the best comic out there- well written, and hilarious issue after issue. And each issue comes with numerous great articles and gaming aids (such as ingenious traps for some guy named joe) that are helping and interesting. Its well worth picking up an issue to just give it a try- believe me, you'll be glad you did!

Here's a taste of it online:

ANYWAY, Nord on the darkhorse.com forum says:

"In Issue #5 we were suffering from some technical problems during the scanning process and some general miscommunication. My pencils for issue #5 were the same quality in issue #4 and issue #6. Some of the problem was simply due to Thomas and I not using the same type of pencil lead. I think we've worked out the kinks and hopefully we can keep bringing you guys a quality product."

So STFU

Yes, it was cowardly and rude.
But it was just an excuse for the art.

It's the story that's leaving me rolling my eyes.
Another decadent race of sorcerors. Another arena. Another slave uprising led by Conan. Another beautiful doll who helps free Conan from bondage.

It's told with energy, but it's such an old chestnut it almost tells itself.

 Wow. That was a rude, stupid and cowardly attack, but no surprise coming from an unregistered "guest."

um I'm a guest because I never cared for registering here since I don't visit that often. So what if I had an actual username... how would that make me any less anonymous considering we are on the INTERNET AND ALL.

Also, STFU

:D
Come on man, must be a 13 year old,
I don’t even know what those acronyms are.
that "guest" is funny, take care buddy, keep walking....

i think the same thing, its about the story, i actually like the art, well im partial towards Hyperborians (i play one ) and did not like the way they were portrait, but thats ok, its just that magic should be dark, terrible and rare, not this guy just snaping his fingers to open some doors, next you know psionics are going to show up,
what ever, ill still buy them, maybe...

If you were registered, you'd get banned. Fortunately for you, any 13 year old idiot like you can come in here and post nonsense. Whoopee!

Oh no- can't ban me. Oh dear. How horrible that would be, being BANNED. The horror. Yes here I am... an Internet Coward... afraid of the big bad ban stick. Only real men register usernames like Iron_Chef.

LOLOL 13 years old LOLOL YOUR RaPIER WIT PLunGES DEEP lolo <-sarcasm

Yeah, how immature of me to post Nord's explanation behind some of the whining going on around his art for Conan#5. How very mature of you to ball your eyes out about a comic book disappointing you throughout 3-4 pages of this topic.

Pot, kettle, black.

Well, perhaps this will become a very entertaining thread after all! Though, there are ways to ban via domain, ip, and entire class c addresses (a, b, and d too)...

But, hopefully not. Because it is becoming entertaining now.

Shhh, you'll just encourage it. *grins* This is, after all someone who has spent three days coming back to this site to insult Chef. We aren't... umm, what was I saying?
