Any word on Cloaked Romulans?

Just wondering what the status "Resin Experimentation" means for the production of cloaked Romulan ships.

Do you keep experimenting and it keeps failing? Are you getting closer to a workable solution for producing clear ships?

I ask because my $40 has been tied up in this order since the beginning of the year and I want to know if I should just change my order to something that can be shipped.

I'm curious too. I've been holding off on buying any Rommies until I can get the clear cloaked ships at the same time.

:)

This is my opinion on the matter, but I think its a bit of a stretch to expect Romulan players to purchase their fleet twice. Once for their ships, and a second time for a cloaked version of all of their other ships.

I think its a cool idea, but unless they are half price as regular ships, or are sold in packs of 2-3 instead of packs of 1, then its something I will hold off on even after the ships are out.

Agreed that I certainly wouldn't want the cloaked ships to be considered compulsory for gameplay. As is, I think the intent is that they're just something cool - if you want to signify cloaking using a token next to a painted miniature, that should also be acceptable :)

I have a Fleet box of Roms I haven't yet started to assemble, but there's no way I'm going to be springing twice, one for the Fleet box, once for cloaked ships.

I can live with a counter next to the ship. Agreed the cloaked ships would look neat, but I'm not paying for the Roms twice.

I think its just a neat option interested players. It's not like its required to play Roms, but if you want to spend the extra cash it looks way cool on the gaming table. I'll be buying them if/when they finally become available, but I can see that not everyone would want to.

Right now we play with an unoccupied base and a cloaked marker but I'll buy the clear Roms if they can be produced just on the coolness factor.

I would have been tempted to buy a few Klingon ones just for dual use :)

Coolness as a selling asset is sometimes underrated

Problem with cheaper resin models is...Why buy the full priced ones then?

Just buy your "cheaper" resin models, prime and paint them...you just got your entire fleet for cheaper.

It doesn't really make any sense for you guys to expect the resin models to be cheaper. They aren't required...it's absolutely a "cool" item for Roms to get. Buy your fleet twice...or don't, but don't expect mongoose to respond to your weird and illogical sense of entitlement.

Feds are better anyway.

Hi guys,

I'm quite new around here, but wouldn't it work just as well if you simply take left over ship (if any) paint them black with some stars on it. Maybe you slightly highlight some of the angle on it to give it a silhouette. After all, isn't empty space all you should be looking at really. Just an idea like that to try out, I know I will once I finish sorting list and figuring out what to do with the stuff I got so far.

hope it give some idea to work with until they are released.

Hey that's not half-bad idea actually! Heck it could even be said to be more appropriate way to do it than clear resin!

I have done it, I painted some of my Romulan KR ship along with cloaked ship marker, here is the effect on the table, hope you guys enjoy. I didn't had the chance to actually play with them yet, they simply posed pretty for the picture. I hope I don't end up "losing" some on the table and forgetting to activate them, only time will tell

That's certainly cloaked ships!

If I get around buying romulans one of these days and if I decide to get cloaked versions rather than just using marker I think I'll just borrow your idea for them. Looks lot better IMO than clear resin(albeit there IS danger of "oops I had that ship too left to act..." :D)

Love the idea, you may just have got me back into playing a larger Romulan fleet (was going to stick to around 500pts, which i have - But 8) )

Mckickaha painted me some stunning Spartan ships that were in the process of Decloaking - I'll see If can take a decent photogrpah - but they are gorgeous :)

I think those are better looking than the pics of the clear resin Rom minis. Not sure I could justify doubling the size of my Rom fleet to have a spare of each ship painted in "cloaked colors". Well, if I were wealthier. :(
