Antiama-Class Fleet Carrier and Heavy Fighters

I am optimizing ships that I plan on using in the future, so I'll share the upgraded version of the Antiama-Class Fleet Carrier and Heavy Fighter here for anyone that cares to use them.

EDIT: I'm updating the files here as I go, so here are the most recent.1730603220900.png1730657266106.png

OK, great, but neither craft makes much sense in MgT2, and neither did they in CT.

A carrier that ventures into combat will quickly be destroyed by real warships.
A carrier with docking clamps is smaller and cheaper, i.e. projects more fighters.

A 50 Dt fighter makes no sense, it has no advantage over a 35 Dt fighter, it's just more expensive.
Mixing missiles and lasers is just confused, one a short ranged weapon, the other long range, giving the fighter no real advantage anywhere.
If you want beams, hence get into short range, consider additional reaction drives.
Plasma, particle, or even Fusion guns are superior to lasers. Lasers are not military weapons, but point defence.

On reflection, I agree. Thanks for the input. I’ll see what I can do.

Fighters are kind of pathetic. With the way their weapons are limited, they seem more like self-propelled targets. Not sure I can make one worth a darn. Might go with 100 tons and see what kind of "fighter" that produces and put them in docking clamps. Make them mini battle riders.

Yeah, the artificial 100 ton limit for hardpoints is a big bugbear of mine (or some other goblinese creature hiding under the bed). I'm fine with the limit for jump drives, but for a one ton socket turret... makes no sense, especially since missiles can still be launched to distant off the same platform. I'm sure its all arranged to make dogfights a thing, even though they really shouldn't be, except maybe in orbital space, but if it made sense weapons range would be based on sensors, not ship volume. Add one ton from 99 to 100 and suddenly you can go from a single 10km range turret (and some firm points) to a triple turret and fire out to very long range with a PA or long range pulse laser...

And yes, I'd build 10 ton platforms with a power plant, minimal maneuver, decent sensors*, and a triple turret (might need to go to 15 tons for a barbette) and spit them out as laser or particle accelerator mines... cover the world starlink-style, except pointing up.

*except you can give them basic sensors and it changes very little... see first paragraph

It's even worse. That one ton allows you to mount a small missile bay. add another 25 tons and you can armor it to 15, have a full military crew with 2 sensor stations, a deflector, 7 extra salvos once the 12 in the bay run out, and fuel and supplies to hide for four months.
Of course it will run you 200 MCr.

I think the money is worth it. I’m out and about now, but was able to fit a small bay in. 125 ton hull. Not enough room for a full crew, so only a pilot and gunner, but I’m thinking of making the small bay modular and swap it out for different roles.

I made the bay Smallx3, so an extra 15 tons to play with.

I wasn't able to get a full military crew with 125 tons, but I think I got almost everything else. Other than using acceleration couches, how did you fit the full military crew? I didn't have time to make a summary sheet. (Have you considered putting a summary tab in the spreadsheet to break it down similar to the ones in the books?

4 staterooms. Oh, and I went with the standard 6G and no refinery, since it doesn't have a jump engine to gum up.
As to the summary, when I was making the sheet, the coding to list everything on a separate line fought with a desire to keep it to two pages.
Since I was doing adventure class ships, the pages won.

Military crew is like 20 people. 4 double cabins just isn't enough. With 2 sensor stations as mentioned above, I get this.
