All these books and nothing to do with them.

I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with the same problem. I've got a couple of these Runequest books and I must say, after owning D&D 2,3 and 4E, Ars Magica, Harn, Gurps, Palladium, Harp and Rollmaster, Runequest is absolutely the best system out there, hands down, bar none. Unfortunately, I can't DO anything with them!!

I haven't gamed since 2003. I wanted to do a PBEM a few months ago but that fell through and couldn't keep my interest anyway, so now, what am I to do? I have no idea where to find any local players and the constraints of real life prevent me from having any kind of game physically.

I figure the internet will work for me. In particular, Loz' idea of a skype based game sounds ideal, but my big roadblock is finding players, any players, to do it. Where do I go? Has anyone found success finding enough players to form a group? Is there a particular website that is popular that has players or DMs? I try google searches for players but no luck. I don't even mind simply being a player, as long as I can play.

RPOL.com and RPG.net are good places to start for Play By Post games. I find that they are not as nail bitingly as exciting as tabletop play, but they are fun.

Local gaming stores usually can help you link with other local gamers- from there it's just a matter of personalities :D

Thanks. Play by Post is OK, but I actually want a straight up old-school tabletop. Unfortunately, the gaming community is just about non-existant out here. I'm hard pressed even to find other gamers that speak English!

There are computer programs, usually called Virtual Tabletops that are set up for playing all at he same time. Some are commercial, like Battle Grounds while others are free such as RPG Tools.

Most share a few common characteristics, a map you can move tokens around on, often with a fog of war function, dice rollers, chat and so on.

Over on BRP Central someone is planning to run a game (using BRP unsurprisingly) and may still be looking for player if you are curious.

Hey Dave, lets see if we can get something going. I have never played RQII or any RQ for that matter, but have some books and have been dying to play it.
I currently play a pathfinder game using a ventrilo voice server and a virtual tabletop and although it isnt the same thing as face to face, its the next best thing.
I have also tried play by post and absolutely despise it, so the only thing I am interested in is a game using some type of voice communication and a virtual tabletop.
Get in touch with me if you want see if we can get something going.

Amen to that! I'll see if I can work something out. I have Skype and I'm gonna try to contact some others that I was in a game with 7 years ago. If it all works out, I'd like to either run Deus Vult or a game set during the fall of Rome. If someone else wants to run, I'm cool with that too.

I'm down with any setting you would like to go with. And I am fairly new to rpg's in general so would not be comfortable as a GM at this point, so if that is something you want to do, go for it. If you would rather play then we will just see if we can find somenoe to GM it. Up to you.

I see you have also posted in Loz's thread about doing an RQII beginners one shot, maybe we both can get in that and get a nice introduction to RQII and continue with trying to put together our own game.

Cool I'll check it out. What's the site address?
You'll find the thread here http://basicroleplaying.com/showthread.php/2056-Fantasy-Grounds-In-Search-Of-The-Trollslayer

Thanks for the link. I think after Loz' game, I'll start something if nobody else will. I'm quite a newcomer to RQ, but I made a homebrew some years back that mirrored it closely, without even realizing it. I've been into RPG tabletops for a VERY long time, since 89. I'm more into the historical based rather than fantasy games.
