age of conan beta

Krushnak

Mongoose
the beta for age of conan has begun so head on over to http://www.ageofconan.com/conan/en/index.html if your interested in the game and sign up.

Signed up when it came out.

Any interest in a Lore/RP Guild for that game from members of this forum?

Red Mongoose, Order of the Mongoose...? Something fun like that.

Any thoughts?

Have you guys been playing it? Thoughts so far? I've been following the development somewhat but I didn't sign up for the beta (been playing DDO). I'm intrigued by what I've seen so far but it sounds very PvP-heavy, which I'm so-so on.

I'd be willing to give it a try possibly, and I think a guild is a good idea. The actual release isn't until later this year right?

If we were playing we couldn't tell you.

No though, I'm not playing. Beta hasn't begun yet so I'm sure it's only a very close group of developers family and friends who are playing now.

I've been following it closely, and I have to say so far, I've been really impressed. If I had a little more time on my hands, I'd have signed up, but alas, the real world calls.

I'm definatly backing an RP guild on there though. If a group of us could get together on there, and inforce som brutal RP, it would make my year!

I'm signed up for the beta and waiting with crossed fingers. Cant wait for the game to come out, it looks like a nice break from most mmorpg's around.

I'll definately cancel my WoW account for this game. I picked up an Xbox 360 earlier this year, and from the looks of this game, a controller will be much easier to use than a mouse/keyboard.

I was first interested in Age of Conan, but then I found out what the magic will be like - your usual run of the mill MMORPG magic with healers and blasters. I'm especially annoyed by D&D-like priests, who seem to be healers and receive powers from their gods instead of being just common sorcerers. Bah, I'm too much of a purist to support something that is so out of flavour. A shame, Hyboria would definetely have great potential for a different, more brutal kind of MMORPG.

Are you sure about that? From what i have learned about the magic using classes it is very different from all the other online games out there. For example, the spellweaving process whereby you add additional effects into the spell as you try to cast it, with a risk of you overstretching yourself and suffering serious soul corruption. I think its going to be nice!

I hope I'm wrong. I know about the spellweaving - but does the gameplay mechanics of spellcasting really matter, if the underlying logic is the same as in all MMORPG's? From what I've read, I've understood that priests of Mitra, for example, are your typical healers, who receive healing powers from their god. Blah. I guess they just couldn't make a too hard MMORPG, where there actually would not be magical healing at all.
